|Organization:||United Outer Colonies Peacekeeping Forces|
Height: 5'6” Mass: 146 lbs
Build and Skin Color: Although thin and rather short, Masazaku is well-proportioned, and so looks fairly average. His skin colour, however, does seem somewhat peculiar, being darker than average, suggesting Arabic origins. It's not dark enough to be unheard of, it simply is on the darker end of the spectrum.
Facial Features and Eye Color: There is little outstanding about his face beyond his skin color. His eyes are plain and brown. His beard is never completely shaven, but he never lets it grow long, keeping it only slightly longer than a five-o-clock shadow.
Hair Color and Style: Masazaku's hair and beard are brown, and he always keeps his hair at about shoulder length and unstyled, though well-kept.
Distinguishing Features: He can often be seen listening to music when not actively working on something. More obviously, however, he dresses casually whenever it is not considered completely inappropriate.
Personality: Masazaku is generally a loner, but does not act closed or isolated: when in the presence of people he does not know very well, he'll usually be rather shy and introverted, but he does his best to remain open to any move someone else might make towards him, trying to remain good-natured and cheerful when approached, though this doesn't come naturally to him. This natural distance makes it somewhat difficult for him to get to know people on a personal level, but once he does grow closer to people, he opens up quite a bit, and starts joking and laughing considerably more than he otherwise would.
Masazaku lacks a strong motivation in life, and most of his decisions were taken because they seemed the best option, upon reflection. Although that may not directly translate to every aspect of his personality, in terms of career and the planning of his life, he takes a “go with the flow” attitude quite far.
In any kind of official situation, however, he will usually drop out of the shy, casual and somewhat submissive personality and let little to nothing get in the way of what he is required or supposed to do, barring truly special situations, and even then he usually prefers to make sure that deviating from protocol will be accepted. He is still not a particularly motivated person, however, and this attitude is somewhat mechanical, though he isn't incapable of sympathy while at work, or anything of the kind.
In all serious situations, Masazaku is usually rather analytical, treating many choices as a cost-benefit analysis. (Morality factors into this analysis, he isn't “cold and calculating”, just calculating.) This extends to most serious discussions, in which he is generally very rational and difficult to impress.
He's quite slow to anger, and usually does not grow particularly angry other than by someone else's repeated and deliberate action, but once angered, he doesn't mince words and is often harsher than might be considered adequate. Annoying him repeatedly in a friendly manner will not get you a friendly answer, though it's likely that most people would understand that Masazaku would like them to stop before they cross the line.
He considers himself more of a thinker than a “doer”, and though he is not significantly worse than average at physical tasks, he tends to consider himself lacking in those fields.
Likes: Music of most kinds, free time, warmth, observing people and nature in action Dislikes: Cold, excessively shallow lyrics in music, unnecessary pressure Goals: Has no clearly defined goals so much as he wishes to live as pleasant a life as possible while being a loosely defined “good person”

Born a Geshrin, Masazaku upgraded his body as much to keep up with the times as anything else. Having little ambition or overarching motivation in life, he accomplished little until he found common ideological ground with groups advocating the independence of the UOC. Though he was not at all an important figure in the movement, he found in it a cause he could agree to, due to the ideals behind the movement rather than the concept of the independence itself. When independence was achieved, Masazaku moved and acquired UOC citizenship, then enlisted in the Peacekeepers, as it seemed the best way to serve the cause, as well as giving some extra direction to his life. By this point he had already become independent from his family for some time, and though he has cut most ties (not entirely by choice, mostly due to the haste of his leaving Yamataian space for the UOC) and does not speak to them often at all, there is no enmity.
Despite not being naturally predisposed to military service, he has followed Peacekeeper training to the best of his ability, garnering satisfactory but generally unimpressive results, with most of his strengths being in support roles, specifically computer and network usage. Though he isn't physically imposing, he performed well enough in powered armour and weapons training. However, he has found hand-to-hand training quite difficult.
Masazaku had little trouble with Peacekeeper training in the operation of computers, being more than capable of operating any computer system in use by the United Outer Colonies Peacekeeping Forces. In addition, spending much of his free time on computers for a fair part of his life, for both leisure and as a nearly-infinite source of knowledge, Masazaku has a particular facility with them. This is not so much a result of proper training in the field as it is an ability to learn to use new software or hardware rather quicker than most people, so long as it isn't radically different from usual applications. His ability is not equivalent to seasoned professionals, however, as he prefers to dabble in everything rather than specialise. He is usually capable of holding fairly involved conversation on more complicated subjects most unspecialised Peacekeepers might not know much at all about, but most of his knowledge will be theoretical, or at least not first-hand.
Masazaku has found hand-to-hand training quite demanding, but has proved capable enough in disarming and disabling an opponent, though he dislikes it. Although he would rather avoid lethal conflict, he feels much more comfortable piloting powered armour or using a weapon than fighting hand-to-hand. Although he is not particularly muscular, he has considerably more endurance than would appear, and is quite capable of taking a beating or remaining active for fairly long times. He is competent in the use of pistols of all types, knives, most explosives and rifles of all kinds.
Sociology and anthropology being his preferred fields of study before he decided to enlist, he knew something of psychology and related fields before his Peacekeeper training, and had no problem fulfilling expectations in those regards. Masazaku is also quite adept at debate, provided he has access to relevant information. This, and his usually even temper, makes him a more than adequate diplomat in most situations, though some may consider him too rational. He is also familiar with the provisions of the Peacekeeper Charter of YE 30 and the usual protocols in cases of first contact with an unknown culture.
All Peacekeepers know how to diagnose and treat minor conditions, apply first aid and emergency care (CPR, etc), and perform field surgery in emergency situations. Masazaku's experience does not extend beyond standard Peacekeeper training, however.
Though official jargon is not yet second nature to him, he has no problem using just about any standard communications device, civilian or military, including comms systems in headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles. Fluent in both Nepleslian and Yamataian, he has also been familiarised with the required reports and forms.
His usual pastime being the exploration of whatever networks and sources of data might be available for games, discussion, or interesting knowledge, he has acquired basic knowledge in a very wide variety of fields. He is by no means a historian or a specialist in politics, but he finds himself knowing many odd or interesting details in those fields that most other people might not know or remember. In the same fashion, though mathematics are not at all his forte and he never pursued higher education in science, he can hold simple conversation on subjects that specialists might consider your average person to be ignorant about. This is all theoretical, however, and he would know little to nothing of what to do in an actual lab.
Although not a particularly good leader in action and under pressure, Masazaku is quite used to debate and public speaking, and usually makes up for a certain lack of presence with sound arguments. He rarely hesitates to point out faulty logic or arguments, unless he knows it will get him in immediate trouble (as may be the case with superiors) or in the face of immediate danger.
Oshi Masazaku is currently a Peacekeeper Recruit in the United Outer Colonies Peacekeeping Forces. He receives a weekly salary of -salary- per week.
