Roken Techard was a Nepleslian United Outer Colonies Peacekeeper assigned to the UCS Zenpyou. Roken was 1 of 100 survivors of the YE 32-YE 34 Mayer Station incident that was rescued by the YSS Aeon in YE 34. He left military service shortly after their rescue.
A quiet person that keeps to himself. He is dedicated to his job; which is the only thing he has, and follows others when told- but he may disobey those people if he feels that they are incompetent. Roken has grown a little caring more for the team he is assigned to.
Likes: action, seeing new things, Anything that will keep him away from the city he hates.
Dislikes: The city that he was born in, Poor leadership.
Goals: To serve, to find a new life, and to keep his crew safe.
Mother: Bertha Techard (Deceased) Father: James Techard (Deceased)
Roken's life as a child was always a life or death struggle and with the gang wars increasing and the local law's zero tolerance for any sort of illegal activity made surviving in the hive city even more difficult. The one thing that changed his life then was the death of his mother and father when a police raid against the local gangs took their lives. Orphaned and left with no one to take care of him, Roken scrounged for food and shelter until he was taken in by gang leader, Darius Claw of the Dragons.
Roken spent the rest of his childhood learning their ways. When his training was complete, he had become the Dragon gang's newest member. During a takeover against a rival gang, Roken's eyes were severely burned in the fire fight and he was given cybernetic eyes. With every gang war, Roken's chances of survival decreased. He finally left the hive city and decided to take his chances in the military- now the only thing that matters to him is that he never has to go back to the hell hole that he once called “home”.
Roken's first assignment was security detail on-board the Destiny but his time there was short lived due to a Major Riot and several other odd events happening aboard the ship. Roken was injured when he carelessly knocked over a piece one of the tech's equipment which caused a malfunction in his augmented eyes. He was taken off the ship during the evacuation. Roken is not sure what happened to the Destiny but was soon re-assigned when he fully recovered from his injuries.
Roken's service aboard the Mikomi was a bit longer and more up his speed. The ship was investigating a strange beacon on a planet named, Bowhordia. During the drop, the team was ambushed and took heavy casualties due to the massive cannon guarding whatever it was that was on the planet. Roken was once again injured in the fight but was able to rescue some of the injured and make his way back to the ship only to discover that there were still people left behind. He was sent with the rescue team to assist. In the end, all the crew members were brought aboard and the Mikomi left the planet. Roken spent the rest of his time in R&R and training.
Roken was assigned to assist in the retrieval of the Goban only to find himself and the crew captured and tortured before being rescued. Roken is not sure how they were rescued and what will become of the commander he figured that it was nothing he needed to worry about.
Roken's service aboard the Yuugumo was short lived. After fighting off a Mishhu attack and then attempting to defend the ship from invaders, he only managed to end up getting killed and was later revived aboard the YSS Asuka. Not including a brief paranormal encounter during his service.
Roken decided to join the UOC peacekeeping force; he had hoped that his choice would open new doors of opportunities, he spent most of his vacation wandering the streets taking in the sights awaiting the moment when he would be called again on another assignment.
Roken was aboard the Vanguard for a time.
Roken is reassigned to the Zenpyou…
During is training he was taught in the fine points of communications, Roken never talked much (unless it was during a combat mission then he talked a great deal) so his communication skills are still at there basic's he has a better understanding of military code the only other language besides Nepleslian was gang slang which he never used.
During his city life he spent most of his time fighting rival war gangs, law enforcment and anyone who got in his way, military training furthered his skills and have given him basic martial arts skills mostly in the form of karate and boxing, during his time at the range Roken hand high ratings in marksmanship (due to his improved augmented eyes) and could use sniper and basic rifles and heavier weapons if he needed them.
Roken was trained to operate any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army of Yamatai Ships. Other than Kessaku's, Roken hasn't focused on any other design but has some basic training on several other systems that he used to hack during his his time in the gangs back home. His skills were put to the test assisting the boarding crew on the Asuka.
What little he learned back home was further strengthened during his military training. Roken has kept up with his training and still has a grasp of the basics, mostly algebra.
When he fought in the gang wars he was taught how the city life worked, also how to pick locks and hack computers systems, Unfortunately, these skills havent been used since his time in the military and Roken hasn't had the time to continue using the skill.
Spent his first two years as a wheel man for the war gang he served in, Roken has had extensive power armor training and has had one combat drop in a Phalanx during his assignment with the Mikomi and the Goban. He also operated a fighter during his assignment on the Yuugumo.
After being stranded in cave in during a police raid, Roken developed a poor sense of survival which was refined during is military service. Roken's survival skill was put to the test on Bowhordia when he had to keep himself alive. He managed to rescue some of the injured soldiers and was better able to understand the concept of laying low.
