Stenos Grimalk is a player character played by Stenos Grimalk.
|Height:||6 ft 4 inches|
|Organization:||Star Military of the Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia|
Build and Skin Color: Large, broad shoulders, muscular build. His skin is slightly tan but all of the scarring on it makes it seem much darker than it actually is.
Eyes and Facial Features: His one eye is blind due to a large scar, thus the pupil is a pale white, only slightly darker than the rest of his eye. The other eye is cybernetic He has a strong jaw with a thin beard covering it and a rough, blocky nose.
Ears: His one ear is large and almost jagged in appearance, as though it was cut to look like a series of simple geometric shapes. His cybernetic ear is very inconspicuous, as it does not protrude from his artificial skull at all.
Hair Color and Style: His hair and beard are kept very short, only an inch long at most, and he keeps them both very neat. His hair is black, but graying as he gets older.
Distinguishing Features: After an event in his background, he has a cybernetic implant on the right side of his face, thus his right eye is robotic. As well, he has a large scar over his left eye that looks to be at least 20 years old.
Personality: Stenos is extremely cold and unused to dealing with people–he prefers to keep a “shoot first, make friends later” attitude. Still, due to guilt from his past, he tends to be at least willing to show basic kindness to those fighting on the side of justice. In his own way, Stenos has a sense of humor, though it's very dry and he would never express it by laughing. One of his favorite jokes is one he uses when he introduces himself: “My name's Stenos Grimalk, but my friends call me Sten.” “Hey Sten, I'm ___.” “Don't make the mistake of thinking I just called you my friend.”
Leon Cain, Asyria Cain, unknown benefactor
Stenos Grimalk (born Leon Cain) was born to Leon and Asyria Cain, who both served as general infantry in the Nepleslian Military. They were absent for most of his childhood, only seeing him when on shore leave, they were both killed in action when he was twelve. When the pressure of financial independence was placed on Stenos he took to petty thievery, which quickly escalated to gang involvement. By the time he was sixteen, Stenos joined a small group of amateur pirates where he quickly became known as a ruthless, natural born killer. His nickname aboard the ship and in other small circles was “Killshot Cain” despite his preference of melee weapons. Over the years, as his notoriety grew, the other men aboard his ship began to express interest in having him lead a mutiny against the current captain in favor him. He never took interest in being in a leadership position, though; he preferred his role without any expectation from others. So he remained as a simple pirate, killing, raping, pillaging, etc. Still, as the years passed on and Stenos' actions grew more deplorable, there was a breaking point.
After thirty years of being a pirate, Stenos had a dream while at a port for a night. He dreamed that he was seeing through the eyes of every man, woman, and child he ever murdered. He felt their fear as he looked at himself with pure disgust. Stenos woke up sweating that night, and overcome by guilt, he fumbled for his pistol and shot himself in the head.
The next day he woke up alone in a hotel. Vaguely remembering his attempted suicide, he went to feel his right eye, only to be met with a metallic one. He felt around his head to find that the skull went around completely on the right side. Somebody had not only saved him, they modified him, and he had to find out who. Searching over the rest of his body, he found that not much else had changed, except for a cryptic tattoo in a language he couldn't read. This began Stenos' resolution: he felt that because he was lucky enough not only to survive shooting himself, but some unknown benefactor thought him important enough to save from death, he must have been meant to do something greater than he thought.
Over the next few weeks, he changed his name and identity to “Stenos Grimalk” and attempted to clear his name. Having gotten to a point where his crime record would not immediately be divulged, he joined the Nepleslian Military, going to basic at Funky City, and later becoming a Private 3rd Class.
Stenos is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, ships, ground vehicles, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. He is fluent in Nepleslian. He can speak and write it correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc. He is skilled in field communications and is proficient in all rudimentary forms of communication (hand signals, flashing lights, etc).
Stenos' time as a pirate has made him more or less capable of picking up any weapon and knowing not only how to use it, but how to rig it in a dire situation. In this training he tends to worry less about accuracy, as in the way of guns he prefers automatic weapons so he can simply spray bullets at crowds of enemies. In addition, Stenos' best fighting occurs when he uses melee weapons, such as his Greatsword. He knows how to operate land-based power armors, but often has to rely on the AI for advanced maneuvers.
Stenos is in above-average shape aside from healed wounds covering his body, and because of this he has extremely apt endurance. As well, he can take substantial damage due to adrenaline alone.
While his primary training is less than formal, Stenos has an impressive grasp on tactics and following orders. While he sometimes breaks this in the midst of intense combat, he often tries his best to remain a soldier and does a damn good job of it. He knows what it takes to make it out of a situation alive–he did it for years as a pirate, hiding from enemies, staying out of fights he knew he couldn't win, setting up camps when he was trying to stay incognito. While he certainly hasn't made it out of his time alive unscathed, he at least knows how to survive just well enough that he hasn't been taken down yet.
Sten knows how to build things. Often times as a pirate he was selected as the guy who makes weapons. After all, they weren't all wealthy and certainly couldn't all afford top of the line weaponry. So it fell on him to make the guns do just a little bit more damage, to make sure everyone at least had a blunt weapon. Now that he errs on the side of the law he has expressed interest in learning professional modification and manufacturing techniques but has yet to get the appropriate training to safely do this.
He learned how to rig basic explosives during his days as a pirate–that was the easiest way to take down multiple targets at once for him. He has experience with grenades, small bombs, and other basic explosives. However, this knowledge is limited and he does not have the appropriate knowledge to use professionally manufactured explosives, nor does he care to, lest he lose a limb.
As a pirate, he's been around. He's learned a lot about the universe around him and ultimately always wants to learn more. While his formal education ended by the time his parents died, he learned through observation. Due to this, he's very aware of the history of Nepleslia and knows a fair amount about the history of other areas, though he tends to only discuss Nepleslia.

I intend for this character to have a few different personal plotlines that I have yet to figure out way down the line. All of these are related to his goals. I want him to eventually find the person who saved him, whoever that may be, to find out why they thought him worth saving. Otherwise I have nothing really in mind for what his future holds.
