Build and Skin Color: For a pilot, Haruka is taller than the average - an issue that bedevils her in armor, but her height is something she ported over from her original neko form. In terms of build, she retains an athletic physique through a combination of her Yamataian body's natural form and through rigorous exercise. Her skin is naturally very pale and devoid of any significant markings.

Facial Features and Eye Colour: Haruka has very traditionally Oriental facial features; deviating little from expectations in bone structure, eye shape, and other such areas. If there is anything at all to be said about her face, it would be to prove that the old adage that scowling a lot causes your face to get stuck that way - not a very cheerful person to begin with, Haruka generally wears a determined business-like look on her face. Keeping with the norm of things, her Yamataian body has brown eyes.

Hair Colour and Style: Haruka wears her straight, black hair up in whatever uniform regulations dictate it to be styled in. When seen loose, it flows past her shoulders easily. She's not much for ornamentation beyond what's needed to get the hair to do what she needs it to do. To her, her hair is just something that sits on top of her head and occasionally needs to be cut.

Distinguishing Features: If Haruka had to have a distinguishing feature, it would be her height. She's taller than your average power armor pilot and is sensitive to the fact. Her lack of ornamentation and make-up could lead one to believe she was a believer that her natural beauty suffices - really, she just doesn't care much about such things.

Personality: Haruka lives up to her name. Distant would be the word to describe her. Cool and efficient, she only ever seems to be at ease in combat training. Living in a sense of displacement for three years, she strives to define for herself what her role in the universe is while trying to remain loyal to the reasons she has come to determine brought about her creation. Loyal to a fault, Haruka may not be a glittering social butterfly but you can count on her - she views her squadmates, crew, etc. as her extended family and is very giving to them. She does not warm up very well to outsiders. Haruka is a strong believer in systems - she believes they are there for a good reason and works within them, by that same token she takes almost religious care of her own equipment in the belief that if she does not let her tools down then they will not let her down. Past her exterior is what could best be described as a work-in-progress; Haruka picks up personality traits from people she is about and integrates them into herself based on her own internal evaluation of whether values, opinions, and such 'make sense'. This impressionability and lack of any real internal value system causes great feelings of self-doubt as she must update her personal view of things in light of changing situations. To that end, she's very clingy to the routine, structured life whenever possible while trying to define herself. Significant, unplanned changes actually frighten her - she adapts well in combat situations by virtue of her training but would probably react very negatively to a surprise party. In the long term, if she was appraised of an upcoming transfer she would have far less difficulty in integrating with her new unit or ship than she would if she was suddenly ordered to move somewhere else.

Ketsurui Zaibatsu

Haruka was the last of her batch in the last year her Neko model would be produced. YE 26 saw her 'birth' at a Ketsurui facility where she underwent personality imprinting with a view of shipping her off to replace one of the many neko being lost at that time fighting the Empire's many enemies. However, the spin-down of the NH-17 model saw Haruka being transferred to the new model Yamataian body as part of the Neko Reintegration Plan's aims to reduce the Neko population. Feeling like a fish out of water, Haruka did her best to integrate into normal society - as she felt she ought to as it was the goal of the Plan. Her logical and tactical view of things were accepted enough in society, but Haruka never felt like she belonged. She bounced around from job to job in the time and even attempted proper schooling, though it was quite difficult. Possessing little to no personal initiative meant she was an excellent and prompt worker, doing what was needed without complaint but would never have really advanced past that despite her manager coaching her to do so. The same showed in her schooling; in subjects requiring linear, ordered thinking she excelled but in more abstract subject matter she fell flat.

Despairing at an inability to adjust to civilian life, Haruka ended up joining the Star Army of Yamatai of her own volition. In her estimation, she would be best served going into the service of the organization she was created for. She volunteered for the infantry, having been told such would have been her destination had the NH-17 model not been obsoleted. To her, this was logical. Service, carrying out what she was designed to do, would give her time and perspective to properly 'reintegrate', a goal she does not feel she has attained.

Haruka is familiar with basic radio operation and procedures and can make transmissions to and receive transmissions from other characters through headsets, starships, power armor, and shuttles in both combat and non-combat conditions. Haruka is fluent in Nepleslian and Yamataian. She can speak and write both correctly and efficiently and can write reports, fill forms, issue orders under fire, etc. As a function of being Yamataian and a former neko, Haruka is skilled in telepathic communications.

Haruka has received hand-to-hand combat training, followed up with a rigorous training program. She is skilled and experienced in combat both in Yamatai-like conditions and in zero-gravity, with and without weapons. Weapons she is trained in include energy pistols, energy rifles, grenades knives, and power armor.

Haruka is capable of operating any computer system that uses the Kessaku OS, found on all Star Army starships. She is proficient in entering and/or searching for information.

Haruka has received basic mathematics training, to including up to algebra and trigonometry.

Haruka loves to run; she runs to keep fit as well as to help her 'clear her head' whenever the opportunity presents itself. Aside from this, she also pursues an active interest in acrobatics as a means to maintain flexibility.

Haruka has invested great time in memorizing technical manuals for most common small arms and non-specialist maintenance of power armors that she is likely to encounter in the Star Army of Yamatai. This particular skill was learned for the reason of, and practiced in doing by, Haruka's habit of disassembling and reassembling her weapons given free time - she claims it as a form of meditation and times herself with a view of beating previous records.

One of the few artistic skills Haruka actually takes well to, the culinary arts' demand for precision timing and measurements along with the zen-like ideal of multiple parts coming together to create a tasty whole appealed to her. To that end, she's a fairly good cook - her dishes are technically proficient if lacking in any real innovation to the recipe.
