Explosive Reactive Plating

Explosive Reactive Plating, more commonly referred to as “ERP armour” or simply “ERP”, is an armour add-on designed and manufactured by Galactic Horizon in YE 40 that is meant to be added to vehicles, ships, and sturdier suits of power armour. While not exactly something new it is a more modernized hybrid of older tech that is well designed and manufactured by a company with a good reputation that does not cut any corners when it comes to the quality of their workmanship.

History

After moving to Jui'varen II Galactic Horizon strived to become a military contractor and began by proposing their ERP system to the folks at Kirinov Automotive Servicer and Supplier, who accepted and were pleased with the system thus making the ERP system a stepping stone for Galactic Horizon's eventual goal of taking contracts for the military.

Function and Design

Explosive Reactive Plating is sold by the square meter and is intended to be sold in bulk, with each portion actually consisting of nine individual plates – each of which is 33 centimeters long, 33 centimeters tall, and 5 centimeters deep for a total measurement of 1 meter by 1 meter by 15 centimeters. These tri-layered plates consist of:

  • A Titanium front panel that has been coated with a layer of matte ARTC to help avoid weaker energy-based weapons triggering them.
  • The first intermediary layer, which is made of an explosive liner designed to detonate and counteract incoming munitions.
  • The middle-most Titanium plate, which becomes exposed when the explosive layer is shed.
  • The second intermediary layer, which takes the form of a shock-absorbent rubber that is designed to deflect incoming munitions - though the layer’s effectiveness decreases with each hit.
  • The final layer, which is backplate made from more Titanium that is designed to be mounted to the object in question.

Damage Rating

Rather than increasing the tier something is rated for, Explosive Reactive Plating simply reinforces the defence of whatever it is attached to – allowing for something to be shot more times rather than tank bigger shots.

Appearance

Each Explosive Reactive Plate, regardless of size, is three matte plates (available in any colour/pattern it is needed) with two layers sandwiched between. The explosive layer is a beige colour with warnings in black letters and the rubber layer is a simple black rubber, with the backmost plating having the Tinacen words “Mounting Face” stamped into the metal and highlighted with orange paint.

Availability

Currently Galactic Horizon only manufactures the plating for in-house use and Kirinov Automotive Servicer and Supplier.
