The Galactic Horizon 12.7x50mm Concealed assault Turret is a compact, high-caliber turret designed by Nyx Pine that was put into production by Galactic Horizon beginning in early YE 43.

Initially designed and used solely by Nyx Pine the 12.7x50mm CAT was simply the result of the Gynoid’s experimentation with making her body more combat-ready, giving her additional fire-power while leaving her hands free. Her research and development time would result in an AI-controlled, thigh-mounted weapons system designed to be implemented into the thigh of a synthetic body.

The 12.7x50mm CAT doesn’t look like much seeing as most of the mechanism is mounted to the underside of a plate that makes up the user’s thigh, it consists of a cylindrical main body with a magazine well mounted to the underside and a telescoping barrel sticking out the front, this is all mounted to a multi-jointed armature that allows it to both aim and recess back into the user’s thigh. The unit’s housing is constructed primarily from anodized Durandium Alloy and high-strength polymer to keep it lightweight, additional finishes are available but by default the unit comes in a shade of gunmetal grey, Diacry-infused paint.

When fully recessed into the user’s thigh it is almost impossible to tell any work has been done unless the user wishes to forgo the organic appearance and make their modification more obvious, though when deployed it has a tendency to rip holes in the user’s pants if any are worn.

• Firing Mechanism: Open-bolt, electromagnetic. Each time the system fires an actuator extends forward to push the topmost round out of the magazine into the weapon’s barrel, where a series of electromagnets accelerate it, causing the actuator to reset to it’s rearmost position ready for the next round.
• When deployed the weapon first pops out the thigh-plate a few inches before pivoting upwards 90 degrees to face forwards, causing the telescoping barrel to extend, the actual process of the system firing is controlled by a software suite included with the purchase of the weapon.
• Each time the weapon fires it reciprocates slightly on its armature before resetting to the pre-fired position, helping take a lot of the shunt out of a high-caliber weapon with a high rate of fire.
• Loading: When given the reload command the weapons point their barrels down and use tensioned springs to eject the magazines, allowing the user to slot new ones in manually and return the units to their ready position.

• Weapon Sight: A MOASS is built into the unit’s main housing, above the barrel, as well as both a visible red laser and an infrared laser. The unit’s armature will attempt to stabilize itself against harsh movements made by the user’s movement to remain as accurate as possible.
