IIS "Eyes of the Eagle" Sensory Assistant

The “Eyes of the Eagle” is a sensor enhancement device, made by Iemochi Innovations & Sales. It comes in two parts, which are optional to each other. One is a set of contact lenses with built in cameras, the ability to change opacity and to project images onto the lenses. The other is a set of earplugs which have sensitive microphones and intelligently filter or boost sounds.

History

The “Eyes” were designed in YE 44 by Iemochi Innovations & Sales. They were pitched to Star Army Reconnaissance and the units it trains. After originally developing the contact lenses, it became clear that greater hearing capabilities would also be useful, and the earplugs were developed. They became available for civilian purchase shortly afterwards.

About the "Eyes of the Eagle"

The set of contact lenses include photosensitive cells, which both act to filter excess light and absorb power from ambient light. This powers the display, which is high resolution and allows information to be projected across the contact lens. Depending on the opacity settings, it is possible to entirely replace optical information. A set of microscopic cameras is included, which may see in most EM spectrums, as well as telescopic and microscopic focuses. The applications of this technology range from having an active HUD, to seeing in night vision, IR, UV, to far distances, or to close detail. These functions can be cycled by blinking in various patterns.

The set of earplugs include microphones on one side and speakers on the other. It is powered by the user's body heat. It uses artificial intelligence to pick out useful sounds while filtering out unnecessary background noise. The aggressiveness of this filtering can be changed by tapping the earplug to cycle the mode, up to blocking no sound or allowing all through. Extremely loud noises are always filtered out to prevent hearing damage.

Both devices can be controlled by outside input such as that from the IIS "Headband of Protection" Pain Dampener or IIS "Shocking Grasp" Gloves. To do this, the devices must be put into a 'pairing' mode by using a standard sequence of blinks or taps, which closes once the devices are connected.

Nomenclature Information

Here is the data regarding the entity which created and manufactures this item.

Appearance

The product comes packaged in individual carrying cases for both the lenses and the earplugs. A more expensive version of the lenses is available which allows for a programmable external appearance of the eye once applied. Usually, the lenses are translucent and the earplugs can come in any colour - but normally black or white. The earplugs can be placed deep into the ear so that they are almost invisible, or can be placed barely into the canal so that they are a fashion statement.

Pricing

Here is the information regarding the implant's marketing values.

  • IIS “Eyes of the Eagle” Standard Lenses: 250 KS per lens
  • IIS “Eyes of the Eagle” Earplugs: 150 KS per plug
  • IIS “Eyes of the Eagle” Aesthetic Lenses: 400 KS per lens

Usage

The user opens the carrying case and applies a lens to each eye. By blinking, the cameras will register they are being worn and immediately begin to function. Blinking will cycle the modes, from various forms of EM filtering, to micro and macro zooms. The lenses will dynamically filter out any sudden bursts of light, or intense light, to prevent damage to the eyes or stunning of the user. Upon removal, they will turn off. Due to their photocells, the lenses continue to function except in absolute darkness, at which point they will turn off on transparent mode.

The user opens the carrying case and applies a plug to each ear. By tapping each plug, the earplugs will begin to function. Tapping them will cycle between various levels of filtering, from very aggressive to minimal. Any sudden bursts of sound or intense sound will be filtered out, to prevent damage to the ears or stunning of the user. After tapping the inner side, they will turn off. When body heat is too low as to prevent the device being powered, they will turn off and act as regular earplugs.
