Kirinov "Chaser" Pursuit Vehicle

The Chaser is a light, fast, and agile pursuit vehicle designed to outrun and outmaneuver any civilian vehicles in the event of a high-speed chase that was designed and built by Kirinov Automotive Servicer and Supplier in the middle of EE004 (YE 40) to help combat the growing terror threat facing the Kingdom of Neshaten. It is fielded by the Division of Public Safety and its various branches and divisions.

About the Chaser

The Chaser was specifically built to be faster and more agile than the vehicles it would be chasing - but also had to account for the interior room taken up by 2 officers and 2 passengers and include enough built-in safety features to protect the occupants in the event of a high-speed crash. While chasing down a vehicle is one thing, actually stopping them is another - thus the Chaser was outfitted with several basic devices to assist it in safely stopping a moving vehicle.

This particular law enforcement vehicle is not equipped with any armour as it should, realistically never be in a combat scenario or present in a danger zone. The lack of armour and construction using very light materials allows it to travel faster and is all part of the plan.

Key Features

The Chaser has several key design features, the most obvious of which is a lightweight and aerodynamic construction that allows the vehicle to reach greater top speeds using its high-powered Lunabaren Reactor. This construction plays a key role in the overall design of the Chaser by allowing it to go faster than anything it's trying to catch up to.

As a mandatory precaution for a fast vehicle, modified safety features had to be implemented to ensure the safety of any occupants in the event of a high-speed collision or accident. Restraints and rapidly-inflating airbags are standard, however, a special system (the Highspeed Safety Bubble) was developed especially for the Chaser - but can be implemented into any vehicle with relative ease.

History

The Chaser design was commissioned by the Kingdom of Neshaten's DoPS in EE004 (YE 40) to bolster their forces with better-equipped vehicles to combat the forces of criminal and terror groups; despite this high demand, however, only several prototypes were made to be distributed to each city facility for security and production purposes. The unique construction of the turbocharged twin-core Lunabaren Reactor and the need to prevent the technology from being stolen by criminal groups are the two main factors in the limited production amount of Chasers.

Appearance

The Chaser is a relatively basic design with a few alterations to ensure it can adequately handle any jobs it's used on. Its main body is a large teardrop shape with the point being its back and the wider section being its front with the wider section also ending in a point although far more rapidly. This ensures the vehicle remains streamlined, allows for 2 passengers rather than 1 in the widest point, and provides enough space at the rear for the aforementioned turbocharged twin-core Lunabaren Reactor.

Attached to the main body is 4 anti-gravity devices, each of which protrudes from the side of the vehicle - thereby making the Chaser's overall width greater than just its body. Each device can act independently of the others, but all can be set to work in unison similar to the differential lock status in a wheeled vehicle. It comes in matte black as default with low profile red and blue light strips which can be disabled to partially disguise its true nature.

Statistical Information

Below is statistical information related to the Chaser, including the details of the groups that created it and its size.

Speeds

The following section contains speed-related information about the Chaser.

  • Ground Speed: 400 kilometers/hour8)
  • Range: 4,000 kilometers9)
  • Lifespan: 5 years if maintained.
  • Cruising Altitude: 50 centimeters10)
  • Maximum Altitude: 200 centimeters11)

Interior

The interior of the Chaser is outfitted to accommodate a driver and two passengers in such a way that they will be protected during high-G motions using wrap-around padded seating and race-style harnesses. The driver enters and exits through a sliding lid which is moved forwards to allow them access to slip into the seat before sliding it back over their head.

Passenger doors are more standard hinged doors, with one on each side to allow access to the seats within the wider rear of the vehicle. Each seat within the vehicle is separated from the other two by reinforced mesh; while the mesh's main purpose is to protect the driver from potential criminal passengers, it also acts as a structural support for the vehicle in the case of a collision or roll.

Onboard Systems Descriptions

The Chaser uses an experimental turbocharged twin-core Lunabaren Reactor generator system to power everything from lights to anti-gravity devices to the powerful inertia negators that accommodate the vehicle's high-G turns and stops. The Chaser is not designed for use in space; it has, however, been outfitted with oxygen reserves to last up to an hour in the event that the hovercar becomes submerged. These reserves can be accessed through deployable masks from the ceiling.

The Chaser also makes use of artificial intelligence within its design in the form of an intelligent autopilot system that can keep the car traveling to its destination while the driver reads over any material or must take an important call. The autopilot, as safe as it is, cannot exceed the speed limits and will disengage if the driver pursues a criminal to ensure that the trained operator of the vehicle has complete control - it is simply used to allows secondary actions by the driver as they travel to a destination.

Cargo Capacity

A Chaser unit is equipped to store the driver's operator kit and includes a weapon, some protective equipment, and any tactical items that are required. The vehicle also features a small rear compartment for storing any items of the passengers or the personal effects of any prisoners.

Standard Equipment

All Chaser units all come equipped with two small lockers which are designed to hold an officer's kit while they drive. These lockers also contain enough basic rations to last an officer for at least 2 days in the event of an isolated accident with the vehicle.
