+Appearing as microscopic flakes of material in structol epidermal laminate, exodermic plates are tiny quasicrystalline components with tiny nuclear-force pegs and hooks which are designed to be linked to form usable equipment inside the laminate - for example absorbing or broadcasting specific electromagnetic waves.
+Important is that they're designed to break apart in controlled ways along their edges not unlike a child's construction toy - meaning they can endure massive kinetic and thermal punishment and when a given flake is broken, it can simply be ejected, repaired or swapped out.
