Desert Wind Autocannon

The Desert Wind Autocannon is an chain driven autocannon designed alongside the K-1 Bulldog/Type 41 Main Battle Tank for use with that vehicle.

About the Desert Wind Autocannon

The Desert Wind Autocannon was developed in YE 41 alongside the K-1 Bulldog/Type 41 Main Battle Tank to serve as a weapon to be used against power armor troops and fast moving targets. Like other weapons produced by Osman Heavy Industries, it was decided later to make the weapon a standalone product.

The Desert Wind's high rate of fire, decent accuracy, and respectable damage output make it a reliable weapon for use against fast moving targets such as aircraft and power armor.

Weapon Mechanisms

The following a description of the mechanisms of the Desert Wind Autocannon.

  • Firing Mechanism: Rounds are pushed into the round by sprockets and then fired via an electrical current, which ignites the propellant.
  • Loading: Rounds are pulled up the ammunition feeder and pushed into place by sprockets. After firing, the remainders of the shells (which semi-combustible) are ejected by an groove which extracts and ejects them.
  • Mode Selector: Firing mode is ususally selected electronically by switched at the weapon operator's station, however there are mechanical control mechanisms in place which can also be used remotely.
  • Firing Modes:Automatic, Semi Automatic, Safe
  • Safety Mechanism: When the weapon is put on safe the loading mechanism locks itself up if no round is currently loaded. If a round is currently loaded, the round is cycled back into the ammunition feeder before the loading mechanism locks up.
  • Weapon Sight:The weapon is usually aimed by a remote operator, who sights the weapon through sensors linked to their controls. It can be aimed manually, if there is a mechanical or manual sight or a mechanical means of aiming the weapon.
