The aether dampening system has been designed to provide a means of slowing the tapping of aetheric particles and to provide a means of reducing the effectiveness of aether discharges.

The aether dampening field is a system which causes an area-effect super-stabilization of normal space in relation to the aetheric particle sea and produces an inhospitable environment for aetheric particles which are not being utilized in a sustainable manner. The result of application of the system is a highly decreased efficiency in aether based power systems, and a reduced effectiveness in regard to aether based weapon systems.

The aether dampening field system accomplishes its task by utilizing a system consisting of a specialized transmission array, a quantum field manipulator, a gravitic field manipulator, and a subspace field transmission assembly in conjunction with a space-subspace tunneling system.

The system functions by creating a multi-layered disruption in the aether gathering and discharge process. Quantum and gravitic forces are utilized to interfere with scalar emissions which are used to create a tap into the aetheric sea. The subspace and space-subspace tunneling system are utilized to produce an instability in the aetheric sea by creating a means of interacting with the dimensional layer which contains the aetheric sea, and in the process creating a subspace 'flux' which causes aether particles to behave seemingly randomly thus causing a situation of increased difficulty in regard to the tapping and controlled discharge of aetheric particles.

The resulting impact of this system is highly decreased aether reactor efficiency, and the disruption of aetheric weapon discharges due to the disruption of aetheric particle behavior. The area estimated to be effected by this system is dependent upon the size of the platform utilizing the system. However, conventional starships are capable of producing a one AU disruption of the aetheric sea. The effect however is minimal at the longest distance, yet at .25 AU the effect is not remarkably decreased from its original point of production.

• Cannot be installed on a ship/craft less than 250m long
• Range cannot exceed 1 AU diameter
• Effect cannot bypass quantum shielding (modern CFS is not quantum)
• Effect reduces quantum shield effectiveness by 1 DR
• Excessive stress on the aether can transfer to the vessel emitting the dampening field (eg, if one ship tried to dampen the fields of 3+ ships, it will probably have electrical problems, fires, etc)
