History and Background

After the Motoyoshi Colonial Sector's rapid restoration and rise to prosperity between YE 41 and YE 44 it was obvious that the region would need a solid post-secondary school system to support the training of professionals within the sector. The project had been a planned Yugumo Corporation Capital Project, but delays during the Kuvexian War held off most of the construction until YE 44. In the years leading up to the construction of Tokyo University, however, already existing schools such as the Shima Oceanographic Institute and Jiyuu University for Agricultural Studies which had already been established were placed under the Colonial Sector University umbrella.

In late YE 44, when the main campus of Tokyo University was completed, the new Governor of Jiyuu III, Motoyoshi-Ieyasu Tetsuya further highlighted the need for the system as that many trained citizens in the region were set to leave or desired positions within the Colonization Initiative Alliance fleet.
