This page describes one of the Devotopai (Rituals) of the Poku Saeruo Degonjo.

The Ismâopa Otunay is a method of soul searching and divine communion. The Poku'vonai undergoing the ritual does so to seek guidance from Siamaka. The ritual takes three days to complete, during which time the supplicant drinks only water or herbal tea. The supplicant remains alone, except for the occasional visit by a member of the Detis Goa'ai Jael (Faith Walkers Sect). The supplicant is expected to meditate and sleep; any communication with those who are not Faith Walkers disrupts the rite. The 'searcher' may experience revelatory new thoughts or ideas during this period, or they may come to no new discoveries at all. After the completion of the three days, the individual speaks with a faith walker about their experience. The faith walker may help the searcher interpret what they went through, and any revelations they may have received.
