The career of cook is a Star Military of the Democratic Imperium of Nepleslia occupation that is shared by the Nepleslian Space Marine Corps and the Nepleslian Star Navy, and even the Central Corps. Every time of unit in the Nepleslian military has to be fed, so there are Marine Cooks, Navy Cooks, and Central Corp cooks each working in their respective corps to provide healthy and nutritious meals to their fellow fighting men, women, aliens, mutants, cyborgs, and other people who make up the military's diverse force.

Cooks prepare meals cafeteria-style in galleys on starships, or from mobile kitchens in the field. If no food ingredients are immediately available, cooks can also make meals out of the unit or individual rations, or out of whatever is around the area of operation. Food is critical to morale and the welfare the troops and a good cook knows how to make the most and waste the least of their supplies.

It is tradition in Nepleslian culture for soldiers to feast together (particularly if one can come by a Meganut). Nepleslians are also very fond of burgers.
