As the Second Mishhuvurthyar War spread during YE 31, Saiki Kouan became concerned about having all of the Scientific Studies Service most valuable resources in one system. The Kisaki-class Starbase were intended to be deployed strategically to support SSS operations in areas such as the void between the Samurai Sector and Ketsurui Military Sector. However with the outbreak of hostilities the stations could not be deployed in the original locations so they remained in Yamatai (Planet).

To that end he prepared to dispatch several groups of Tansaku-class Science Vessels to search for systems that the SSS could set up a second base of operation. They began their search exploring the systems near the Chen Nebula. After learning about the Intergalactic Armistice Agreement of YE 30 (IAA) the Kyasshu effort was moved to the far western frontier.

He then met with Empress Himiko to get her permission to proceed with the project. Meeting with Empress Himiko

He called this Project Kyasshu (Cache).

One aspect of the project is that the SSS would actually look for and identify several potential sites. The rationale being if the NMX approached the location of Kyasshu, they would move the operation to another place.

After the first two systems were explored, it was determined that they fell outside of Yamatai control, so the project was relocated.

At the start of YE 35 the project was closed with the NMX threat neutralized. Stations were redeployed.

The survey was conducted by the following group of Tansaku-class Science Vessels.
