The Eight Statues

The eight statues of the Emperor and Empress of Yamatai were built in the Motoyoshi Channel in YE 43 by the Yugumo Corporation under the instruction of Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko and the Motoyoshi Clan.

The Motoyoshi Channel is a waterway on Jiyuu III that divides the old city of Tokyo and Atarashi Tokyo.

A Celebration of Yamatai Rule

In YE 41, the elders of the Motoyoshi Clan that remained loyal to Yamatai Star Empire after the split of the United Outer Colonies under the direction of Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko returned to Jiyuu III. They began economic and social reform to restore the economy of the region through the establishment of the Yugumo Corporation which took over the management of the colonies and led the restoration efforts that had been too large scale for Sunflower Corporation after the Second Mishhuvurthyar War. With the Kuvexian War in full swing, the Yugumo Corporation won the contract for the re-establishment of the First Expeditionary Fleet of the Star Army of Yamatai; a project that put tens of thousands back to work. 1)

More reforms followed and the Motoyoshi Clan continued to spread their influence, and promote loyalty to the Yamatai Star Empire. In YE 42, the efforts escalated to the point where even Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko admitted she was crushing the insurgencies and suffocating those who hung onto the values of the United Outer Colonies. 2) Also established that year, the Yugumo Workers Federation became a force of political and social influence in their successful efforts to promote economic restoration and put people back to work across the Yugumo Cluster. 3) The Motoyoshi Clan promoted the restoration of Motoyoshi-Cho, which included Imperial Park and the statue of Empress Himiko I. It became a place of symbolism and reflection for the people of Jiyuu III through the Kuvexian War.

When the Tange System was invaded by the Kuvexian Military in early YE 42, citizens gathered in Motoyoshi-Cho at the statues of Empress Himiko I and Ketsurui Yui to support the Star Army of Yamatai. 4) In YE 43, when the Yugumo Cluster officially became the Motoyoshi Colonial Sector, Ketsurui-Motoyoshi Katsuko and the Motoyoshi Clan provided the financial backing for the eight statues of the Emperor and Empress of Yamatai to be built.

The statues would serve as a tourist attraction and a national symbol for the Yamatai Star Empire. The eight 200m tall statues would be positioned across the Motoyoshi Channel from Jiyuu Jo towards Atarashi Tokyo and serve as the β€œguardians” of the channel. The Jiyuu Maritime Fleet would frequently provide tours to the statues for visitors and they would be lit at night and visible from the harbor, Jiyuu Jo and the city.

The Statues

Each of the eight statues weighs 1,000 tons and stands 200m 6) above the waterline of the channel.
