NSS Sledge Mama

The NSS Sledge Mama is a Blackjack Assault Cruiser launched in early ye_36 and is Game Mastered by cadetnewb.

The NSS Sledge Mama in Roleplay

Sledge Mama is the main plot for a Rapid Reaction Fleet, and centers around her complement of marines. As part of this fleet, the ship itself is often sent out as part of a small battle group to quickly respond to various crisis. Due to this, Sledge Mama's Marines often find themselves in all sorts of situations, ranging from planetary assaults in a city, to fighting on a lunar surface and assaulting an enemy ship. As a relatively new group, their ranks are made up of random marines, ranging from veterans to newcomers fresh out of boot. All of which, are ground together in hopes of making a good military sausage.

Roleplay can be found in HERE! while the OOC is over THERE!

Posts and Posting Style

Posts are expected from players every 3 days at the very most - typically, after three days have elapsed since the last GM post, a new one will be made. When a new GM post is made, a character will be auto'd by the GM to keep the story moving; though the GM will do the best possible to stay true to the character, efforts may still fall short due to not being the character's player him/herself. The exception to this is if players are still actively replying to one another, and there is no need for GM intervention for the lot to keep moving. This usually comes into play only during social, non-combat areas however.

In general, posts are expected to be a combination of present and past tense for actions a character is taking, and actions that they did take. Overall, when facing enemies, the character takes actions against them but does not write out the enemy reaction or outcome. This is up to the GM to decide; though a slower post style than some other RP sites, this ups the ante by potentially having something go wrong. With the stakes higher, the game is a clutch match and with much more at stake.

Power Armors

The hostile is the bread and butter of the Nepleslian Marines. The suit has served since ye_30, and proven itself to be a strong, tough and reliable general purpose workhorse for the Star Military. Flexible and easily adaptable to any role, it finds itself in every situation that the Neplesilan military is involved in - a battlefield without the Hostile is typically one where the Star Military's back has been broken.

Standard Armaments:

Gameplay: Far more hardy than the vast majority of power armors in use, the Hostile is surprisingly durable. Though it will take damage under sustained fire, its ability to take a beating and keep on ticking is one of its most widely known attributes. Overall, it isn't the fastest power armor, but it is well balanced in its performance. Though typically seen with only very basic but powerful and robust armaments, its trump card is the Push-Pull Plating. Seriously underrated, the plates on the left shoulder, arm and the projector rod hidden in the forearm are all able to produce graviton based fields to push or pull objects, including other power armors. The device, in the hands of a skilled user, can quickly change the entire flow of a firefight.

Meanwhile, the aggressor serves as a heavy, direct fire support unit. Though measuring a massive 13 feet in height, towering over the Hostile, the suit enjoys some of the very toughest armor and powerful, high explosive weapons. It is the 'heavy' which forms the base of fire which anchors the entire squad.

Standard Armaments:

Gameplay: Acting as the Heavy, the Aggressor can soak up damage and dish out twice as much as it can take. Armed with a wide variety of weapons, the unit is able to lay down high explosive direct fire using its trademark Assault Ordinance Projector. With a wide variety of ammunition to choose from, the unit is highly effective in the field when brought to bear. In return for its astounding protection and firepower, the heavy power armor/light frame is not only large and cumbersome, but has serious issues when attempting to defend itself in melee range.

In sharp comparison to these frontline suits, the VOID acts as a support unit. Despite this, it is still quite tough, or at least in comparison to Yamataian power armors. The Void specifically provides mobile, long range artillery support, or serves as both direct fire support and 'shield caster' when fighting alongside troops in the front line. Its ability to utilize its drones to set up defensive walls allows it to not only provide deadly fire with its integrated cannons, but protect teammates. This, is of course, at the cost of being a glass cannon - the unit may be able to project shield walls, but has no conformal or bubble shields to protect itself in exchange for its special abilities.

Standard Armaments:

Gameplay: The squishy mage, the VOID has all of its focus put into either killing things, or trying to assist teammates. Able to fight at any range and deal serious damage, it is also potentially vulnerable at any range as well. Precise, on the ball management of its deployable shield system is a must, and in close quarters, its fusion cutter allows it to quickly tear apart enemies, but provides no actual protection in comparison to the Hostile and it's Push-Pull Plating. Just raw firepower. As a result, the VOID requires the most skill and finesse out of all suits to use, and can be very unforgiving despite its classically tough Nepleslian armor.
