Daisy M6-2A Infantry Power Armor

The Ke-M6-2A “Daisy 2” is a LAMIA (Light Advanced Mechanized Infantry Armor) unit designed by Ketsurui Zaibatsu and Origin Armor Works, and is designed for heavy planetary combat, whether it is ground or aerial.

About the Daisy M6-2A

Ketsurui Fleet Yards Ke-M6-2A Deployable Aero/spacy Infantry Suit, Yamatai, Mk. 2 (Daisy 2)

The original M6 Daisy, a staple to Yamatai's infantry forces for years, proved to be a capable but limited force when it came to terrestrial operations. It lacked the capability to go on extended missions inside hostile territory, as it was originally designed as a compromise of the M2 Mindy and an evolution of the M5 Harpy. It showed its mettle best when used in small squads for missions not meant to last beyond a day's worth of fighting.

The NMX war turned toward ground encounters after the The Battle of Yamatai. In a rare joint project, Ketsurui Zaibatsu joined with Origin Armor Works — creator of the Impulse armor — to help improve the Daisy for these encounters.

Several design points from the first Daisy were considered important:

  • Its durability proved to be a decisive factor in a high percentage of recorded encounters.
  • Its adequate fulfilling of multiple roles.
  • Its flexibility with weapons.
  • Its relatively low production cost (compared to the aether-powered Mindy).
  • Its costly, but highly effective arm shield.

Origin, using data culled from hundreds of thousands of engagements between Daisy armors and the enemy, identified several places to improve:

  • The limited combat endurance of the capacitor system.
  • The hemosynth insert and its requiring the disposal of clothing before entering the armor.
  • The lack of an effective, onboard melee weapon that could compliment the shield.
  • The energy-hungry and mechanically complex gravimetric engines built into the legs.
  • The inability to make quick repairs to the armor (a trait inherited from the Mindy).

KZ and Origin agreed upon these solutions:

  • A fusion-powered, cartridge-based capacitor system that would allow an armor to carry extra endurance.
  • A semi-hemosynth insert, lined with dry synthetic material to allow for uniformed pilots while able to provide medical support upon pilot injury.
  • Fusion microthursters built into the bags of the legs to provide long-term spacy propulsion as well as aerial flight.
  • An interchangeable armor and chassis system to allow for quick swapping of parts and armor plates.
  • An onboard, detachable, 55-centimeter club with powered piledriving spike.

General data

  • Pilot Information: Requires one NH-29, nh-33, Yamataian or Nepleslian pilot. Individual must be between 153 cm (~5') to 200 cm (~6' 6“) tall.

The armor compensates for its pilots' heights through the chassis expanding at the limbs and torso to fit the pilot.

  • Height: Variable, but generally about 15 cm is added to the height of the pilot.
  • Width: 100 cm (~33 in)
  • Mass: 150 kg (~310 lbs)

Speeds:

  • Fusion microthrusters: Mach 1.6 (~1,960 km/h) at Earth sea level (7,575 km/h in dead of space)
  • Anti-gravity drive, land/underwater: 70 km/h (~43 mph)

Damage Capacity

See damage_rating for an explanation of the damage system.

  • Body: 8-12 SP (Mecha scale)
  • Energy Cloak: 8 SP (Mecha scale)
  • Handheld Shield: 4 SP (Mecha scale)

Weapons

Hand-to-Hand Combat: The M6-2A Daisy 2 is as agile as a Nekovalkyrja, far more agile than any human. The Daisy 2 has extremely flexible joints and almost as much physical strength as the M2 Mindy (which is still quite a bit). With the armor's inertia redirection system, the force, speed, and particularly the mobility of the armor is substantial, and the movement can be made as erratic and unpredictable as the pilot can think.

Ke-M6-3404 Impacter: A melee weapon carried onboard the Daisy 2.

Studded gloves, shoulder pads and knee pads: Added to give just a bit more punching power and to lend the armor a bit of a robust feel. It also allows the armor to dig themselves more easily into the ground for a stable kneeling position.

Systems Layout

Defensive/External Systems

Outer Armor: The Daisy 2, by default, uses the same yama_dura plating as the original Daisy for its protective surfaces.

However, instead of being limited to one set of plating, the Daisy 2 can swap out plates for heavier or lighter armor, depending on the mission profile.

  • Xiulurium-coated Durandium plating: Used for recon missions when stealth is required. Durandium is used over Yama-Dura in order to have a mass-producable stealth version.
  • Xiulurium-coated Yama-Dura: Given to covert forces.
  • Yamataium plating: Given to stormtrooper units, available to ace units. Increases SP by 4.

Energy Cloak Shield Projector: Built into the right shoulder pad of the armor, with a projector facing back and front, these produce a tight-fitting energy “cloak” over the armor's surfaces to protect it from energy-based weapons. The shield is not as powerful the Mindy series' CFS-style shield, but is more efficient considering the limited power supply of the Daisy 2. The shield progressively recharges to full power after about 15 seconds, but unlike the Barrier Shield.

Ke-M6-D2901 Handheld Elliptoid Shield: This 3-foot tall shield is built into a mechanism in the armor's left forearm. It is the same as the Daisy's.

Active Camouflage: Can place the image of what is on one side of the craft onto the other, creating the effect of invisibility. The Daisy 2 power armor can also use this system to project holograms.

Conformal PSC Device.

Magazine holders (thighs): A section of the exterior on each thigh pops out to reveal magazines for the LASR (four, right thigh) and the SLAG (two, left).

Internal Systems

Interior The Daisy's interior is lined by a soft, synthetic material meant to replicate a blend of polyester and wool. It can absorb sweat and keep the pilot comfortable if the pilot is naked, or hold a cool temperature for those wearing a uniform.

Behind the lining is the standard hemosynthetic insert found in all Yamataian armors. The insert can “suck” at the liner to absorb sweat and other detritus, provide the necessary temperature regulation inside the armor or bleed through to give medical assistance to a wounded pilot.

Capacitor system: Daisy 2 systems page.

Control Systems: Operation of the armor is through one of two control points — the helmet or the SPINE interface. Brain waves are monitored in the helmet for those pilots not equipped with SPINE.

Self-Destruct” The M6-2A Daisy uses the same self-destruct system as the original Daisy.

Armor Integrated Electronics System

The Daisy uses a Ke-M6-E2901 Armor Integrated Electronics System (AIES). The Daisy 2 ships with optional tachyon communication and sensor systems in the form of helmet ears.

M6-2A Stealth and Sensor Suite: A carryover from the original Daisy, the SAS unit usually is equipped with stealth armor plating and a hyperwave spherical pulse-Doppler radar.

Miscellaneous systems

The Inertia Redirection System and Tactical Drones are carryovers as well from the original Daisy.
