PMS is a solution to improving triaging and diagnosing patients in the field. One of the challenges for medics in the field is accurately diagnosing patients wearing power armor. It started being distributed in YE 30.

The injector is a standard hypospray injector. The user loads the injector with scanner nanomachines from the controller pad. Prior to injecting the user must either use the default value for the batch of nanomachines or can specify a temporary name for use, eg. instead of using Lot 2A Batch 27K, the user could put the name of the patient.
An attachment is provided to inject the scanner nanomachines thru the emergency port of most power armor.
These nanomachines are designed to operate only inside the body of the patient. Prior to injection, they are programmed with the basic “schematic” of the patient. At present human and Nekovalkyrja data models exist. Additional races will be available as expansions.
Once injected the nanomachines swarm and scan the patient providing telemetry such as temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration. They perform a dianostic on the patient neural network, and then establish a connection to the booster patch.
After the initialization, the nanomachines feed data to the controller pad indicating damage found. The user can select a damage point from the controller pad and the nanomachines will swarm to the location and allow the medic to see the injury from the inside.
The scanner nanomachines can be used to defibrillate the patient's heart, but this will most likely destroy those nanomachines.
Nanomachines can only operate for 24 hours, and self-dissolve.
This patch serves as signal booster between the scanner nanomachines and the controller pad. When a batch of nanomachines is initialized in the controller, the patch is coded for them. The patach can be applied to the skin or the outside of armor. It picks up the nanomachines signals and boosts it enough for the controller pad to receive it. Like the nanomachines the power cell lasts only 24 hours.
The controller pad is capable of monitoring up to 8 different patients. The user can set audio, visual or mental alert if a patients vital signs change and set the criteria.
The controller is a dual transceiver unit. One is dedicated to communicating with the scanner nanomachines. The other is for connecting to other systems.
The controller is capable of interfacing to standard communications ports, such as the Star Army Communicator, Type 29, or Emrys Uno Sunglasses. It contains a large storage hard drive 500GB, a wireless communications device, a flat holograph projection screen and a slot for data cubes. The screen can be set to project a image to the size of 32“. It contains a data port for future memory upgrades. The controller pad has solar panels along the edge for recharging the power cells. Without recharging the controller pad will run for 36 hours of continuous operation. The controller pad can have medical records downloaded to it prior to deployment.
Range to booster patch Controller pad must be within 30 meters or signal will be lost.
Ketsurui Zaibatsu released a civilian model of the Portable Medical Scanner PMS-1C in YE 31. It features a smaller power pack, providing 24 hours of continuous operation, and does not come with the armor attachment.
