In the Star Army of Yamatai, the wardroom is a compartment where the ship's officers can comfortably eat and dine. In larger ships, the wardroom is restricted to officers only, while on small ships without a dining hall, enlisted crew may also be allowed in the wardroom during most hours.

Standard wardrooms include a large center table with a built-in hibachi grill (first used on the YSS Sakura), surrounded by tables with booth seating on the walls and chairs opposite. The floor is typically made of tile or marble, and walls are covered in wood paneling and paintings.

A wardroom always has a galley (kitchen) and scullery (room for dishwashing/pots and pans cleaning) attached.
