After some repair work at home and some non-notable exploration of space around the mysterious space station, the Resurgence's crew was gearing up for their next mission. As part of that, when everyone had gathered for dinner in the ship's wardroom, the ship's two supply specialists, Beryl Leyton and Hachirobei Sakuko, got everyone's attention and Beryl asked, "Is there was any equipment you feel we could have used in the last mission, or any equipment or supplies they'd like to have on hand for future mission?" This was the crew's chance to put a sort of wishlist together while the Star Army was in a exploratory mood. Speaking of which, Beryl added, "I am already working on getting everyone a Star Army Explorer Uniform, which are hardsuits that can serve as short-term spacesuits and combat armor. You've probably seen Pidole's prototypes, since she is one of the designers. We are also getting a new set of shuttles."

"Hi Beryl-san," Mineko said, wearing her white ringer exercise shirt and her hair tied up in a red ribbon behind the crown of her deep purple hair. She had on a pair of comfy regal blue pants that sat low on her hips, exposing a well toned midsection and deep lines between muscle groups that turned inwards on either side of the neat bow in the center of her pants. She wirelessly sent Beryl the stats for what she was about to ask for after giving a curt bow to their resident supply specialist.

"With certain SAINT offshoots being reintegrated into the normal operating procedures of the Star Army," Mineko said vaguely, not wanting to directly reference the once-traitorous Black Spiral directly. "I was wondering if you could acquire any positron rifles that may be floating around." Mineko herself wasn't a very aggressive combatant like her operative counterpart Erika. The analyst preferred to do more data collection and supporting of the team by gathering and assessing data even in hostile environments. Having a high caliber rifle that she could rely on to do quick and heavy lifting in a non-atmospheric firefight would mean she could focus more on those things while still contributing to the Resurgence away team's defenses.

Erika turned to face the announcing pair, slinging one arm over the back rest of her chair while the other one covered her mouth to allow her to finish the morsel was eating. She had settled for the standard type 40 exercise T-shirt and track pants. The only thing nonstandard was the large set of headphones around her neck with earcups especially designed for elf-type ears and two projection speakers at the top in pointed housings that made them look like cat ears. RGB lights shifted tones and intensity with the music, going a solid colour when Erika wordlessly commanded the music stop playing.

She took a look at Mineko’s suggestion. The operative nodded as she swallowed and cleared her mouth, clearly agreeing that such a weapon would have been quite useful during the last engagement.

Once done Erika sent her own recommendation forward. “Nepalesian field manuals mention area denial weapons. While not suitable for the last operation, given there were murder robots operated by…” She sucked in a breath “an AI of dubious allegiance, in a similar environment placing some proximity charges would have slowed down the enemy and given us a chance to effect better lines of defense, letting us contain them to the corridors, for example, and bottleneck them while we evacuated the… popsicles. We have Type 31 explosives, but no proximity sensors to detonate them in inventory, only timers and manual methods.”

"I can ask around but no promises," Beryl told Mineko. "Current inventory search shows there are maybe some unused ones on the YSS Ryūjō but I'm not positive. There may be some unlisted other ones around the depots or SAINT bases but it's hard to say unless we get a person to physically go look."

Beryl turned to Erika next, "The usual way is to have drones or nodal support bits transmit the detonation signal to the remote detonator of the Type 31 Explosives. I should be able to requisition some stand-alone proximity sensors. I think there may also be commercially available mines I could purchase. How many, as in quantity, do you want to request for the captain to sign off on?"

Yuri's steps echoed softly in the Wardroom as she entered, the familiar scent of delicious food, and the hum of convorsation. Her smile reflected the sense of accomplishment she felt after a day of intensive studies, absorbing knowledge about the intricacies of medical care and her own physical work. The culmination of her hard work was evident in the way her eyes sparkled with enthusiasm.
Despite the satisfaction that came from her studies, Yuri couldn't help but notice the gnawing hunger in her stomach. She'd been so engrossed in her learning that she'd forgotten to eat, and now her body demanded nourishment. She approached the nearest table and glanced at the time on her wristwatch. It was much later than she'd realized.

Yuri couldn't help but chuckle at her own forgetfulness, shaking her head as she went to the line. There, she found a selection of foods, salads, and beverages. Her stomach rumbled in anticipation as she selected a something and poured herself a glass of water.
With her meal in hand, Yuri found a quiet corner of the Wardroom to sit and savor her food. As she took her first bite, she couldn't help but think about how her journey was as a crew member . The smile never left her face as she enjoyed her well-deserved break, fueling her body for the demanding tasks that lay ahead.

Central Fleet Depot, Yamatai
YSS Resurgence

The YSS Resurgence was stopped for some rearmament and assistance with the annual Candy Festival in its musty old hangar near the starport of the Central Fleet Depot, facing out towards the open landing area and rows and rows of similar bunkers and landed cargo ships. The sky was a swirling gray and the temperature was a little chilly. A constantly light rain came down outside, almost a mist as much as a shower. While hundreds of vehicles moved around in the distance, one grew closer and closer. This was one of the depot's many trains, and it was carrying a large delivery sent in the mail.

Sakuko walked out of the ship to meet the train, which was remotely operated. She would have to get unload it with the forklift. When it came to a halt at the entrance of the hangar, she informed captain Aoba, who got on the intercom. "Attention Resurgence crew, we have some mail. If you are expecting letters or parcels, please report to the cargo bay."

Cheilith grinned at the crewmate she was talking too, "I hope my salvage has come in, want to check?"

Sanda and Trowa headed to the cargo bay. They were chatting about items they had received in past years. Most of it junk, a few cool items. There had been a few items worth keeping but most of it they had both sent to Estrella Yamamoto, Trowa's wife and Sanda's sister.

Yuri and Yayoi both headded to the cargo bay, with Yuri impatiently pulling on her mother's hand as they went. "come on mom! i wanna see what cool things everyone got and what we'd got!" Yuri said as she went. Yayoi just shook her head. "be patient, we still have time." Yayoi said as she followed the two. "i know, but its gonna be my first time! i cant wait to see!" Yuri said. "oh i see aunt Sanda, and uncle Trowa over there!" Yuri added.

Erika calmly joined he procession. For the young neko it was her first salvage. She was curious but had no idea what to expect. She had placed her application as it seemed like the thing to do.

“Too bad I’m not into making my own PA. Maybe I’ll start now, though!” Mineko said enthusiastically about the biggest item she had gotten from Second Chance Salvage. The manila envelope of paperwork Mineko had also gotten from salvage she clutched to her chest and began to mousily open as others were deep in opening their gifts and conversations. Mineko looked confused at first with her brows scrunched together under dark purple bangs. Her shock grew as she kept looking through the paperwork until a look of finalized acceptance passed over her. and the analyst carefully stuffed the papers back in the envelope.

For a wavering moment, Mineko stood stalk still before her lip began to tremble. She put her hand to cover her mouth and turned from the group. Her hand moved up to wipe at her eye, which was full of confused emotions. Without a word about what she had received, she had removed herself from the gathering.

Sanda saw noticed the look on her roommate's face. "Everything alright Mineko?" Sanda inquired. She was making her way over to her own stack of loot with excitement but the look on Mineko's face momentarily distracted the Ranger from her prize.

"Mineko. Whats up?" Erika said over telecoms, following the analyst with her eyes as Mineko made her exit. "Call me if you need anything, alright?"

"Is this a frozen bag of piss?" Cassie cringed, looking disgusted. "Where is the dumpster? Okay...putting this in the dumpster," she said, immediately hauling her first "win" from the salvage company to a large metal dumpster located near the front of the hangar along one wall.

"Oh...OH! Pidole blinked, staring at the large Type 31 Dropship as it was delivered in front of the hangar. I got a little ship! It looks like a mini Plumeria, kind of," she commented. "There's no way I can actually keep it is there? I mean, it's Star Army property, isn't it?"

"Yeah," Euikoshi commented.

Cheilith went over to her crate. She picked up a crowbar and cracked it open. The side fell away to reveal a tank. "Huh, a tank, I wonder what I can get for this." She looked around, and gave a shout, "Hey! Anyone want to trade for a Tank?"

Yoshiro had wandered in to check the salvage.

Trowa moved over to his pile and signed reate of goods.

Yuri popped over to Trowa. "So Uncle Trowa, what did you get?" Yuri asked as her head tilted, as Yayoi went over towards her own signed salvage.

The set addressed to Erika had a few small items, though the main attraction seemed to be a large pod, its porthole covered in frozen condensation. The operative approached it carefully, though the Yamatai markings on its hull put her at ease. She cautiously wiped the glass and peered inside. Her eyes quickly went wide when she saw what was inside.

"MEDIC, MEDIC!" She called out before making a follow up call to Poppy. "Hei Elster to medical. My Salvage has 3 or 4 individuals stored in cryo. Need assistance." She said as she searched for the hatch release.

Poppy ran over to Erika. "Wow! Pidole! Euikoshi! Come help me get them thawed out!" The three roommates got to work getting the frozen soldiers out of stasis so they could rejoin the living.

Trowa glanced over at young Yuri. He wasn't sure how he felt about being refered to as "Uncle Trowa" but let it slide as this was clearly an informal time. He looked over at the manifest before opening them. "Looks like a Lion T3 Transport Shuttle, I'll need to ask Beryl if she knows any of the specs for that. I can't think of it off the top of my head. Let's see... a Blanket, figures. Ooo a Sawn off shotgun. Add that to my collection."

Trowa laughed out loud when he read the next thing. "A Crate of Lorath Missiles - S-Size! How in the world were those delivered? I swear I don't know how these guys get away with some of this stuff. Or how the Star Army allows it to get shipped. An Autonomous Massage Unit. Might have to keep that one." he chuckled to himself.

"I don't see why not, if the army wanted to keep it, they would have salvaged it themselves." Cheilith said, dragging a smaller crate over. She opened it to find a box full of apples, but several bug creatures spilled out. "Eww." She said, putting the top back on and tossing the crate in the trash to be incinerated.

"ooh, those look neat" Yuri said before Erika shouted for medic, causing her to turn and charge forward as fast as she could towards Erika's position and blinked her eyes"oh dear!" she said in shock. with Poppy there, she knew that Poppy could handle it. "I have no idea how these second chance salvage guys do it."

Yoshiro signed for his salvage and checked it over. A paper showed him what he got and he signed for it. the invoice showed that he had an "Type 27 Nekovalkyrja Service Pistol
Hydrogen/Oxygen Distiller Machine (just add water!)
Unique Yamataian Sword". He signed for it and examined it to make sure that he had what he had in his hand.

"the hell.." Yayoi muttered as she saw a vehicle being dropped off to her. That's when she saw the tub of lard and an “Ek'yra” Railgun Service Rifle

Once the soldiers were conscious, Euikoshi explained, "Hello, you're safe, you're at the Central Fleet Depot on Yamatai...we're Star Army soldiers from the YSS Resurgence."

One of the survivors replied, "We're from the YSS Heiwa, NG-X1-441. We're the ship's Special Operations Fire Team assigned by Star Army Command. The last thing I remember we were on a Kuvexian ship at Glimmergold and we got blown out into space. We found a loose escape pod in the debris after the battle and waited but no one found us in that mess so we went into stasis and hoped for the best. I'm Chui Amos Rolfsson. We owe you one."

"Well, lucky you found your way home." Erika said with a sigh before offering her hand. "Operative Erika Elster. Command will want to debrief you, but I'm sure before that Medical will want to give you a once over. Come with me and I'll get you set up in the ward room, get you some food until they're ready for you."

Trowa looked up as he heard the commotion. "What in the world?" Frozen troops!? He shouldn't be surprised he supposed. There was no rhyme or reason for some of these things. He looked back down at his list. His brows furrowed thoughtfully. "Now this is interesting." He glanced up at the giant crate before him. He opened it and whistled. Inside was some sort of Mecha that Trowa had never seen before. It was white, grey and orange with a sword. It looked like it was in good shape... and powerful.

Cheilith opened her next box, revealing a brand new medical drone. "If you need this, feel free." She told the drone to head over to Poppy and do what she said for the time being, just in case the medic needed it for the emergency they were having.

"Well, I'm sure you're welcome to stay on our ship until we can get you back to yours," Poppy told the SOFT team. "I'll message our captain to let him know the situation and our caretakers to have someone prepare a cabin, unless you want to stay here on Yamatai."

"We'll try to get in touch with our ship and see what they want us to do," Rolfsson nodded. "Also I'll let PEARL know we're no longer MIA."

With the situation somewhat resolved, Poppy suggested, "Why don't we do some trading?" to her fellow crew.

"I got a medbay full of medicines," Pidole said. "You could use them more than I can."

"I got a tank, that medical drone, frozen fish, nailgun, and a coloring book." Cheilith summarized. "I'm probably going to donate the fish to ships stores so we can have a fish fry or something nice."

"Holy SHIT is that a giant robot?" Cassie shouted, her jaw dropping at Trowa's salvage gift.

"I think so." Trowa responded. "I'm not familiar with this type though. Norita?" Trowa asked looking around for the Res's armor. "Have you ever seen anything like this before?"

"wow!" Yuri said as she looked at the giant robot. "ooh! mom got a vehicle, and a gun! that's an odd gun" Yuri said and glanced over to her salvage and noticed one seemed to be moving.

"I got... some bags of rice, some books and a broken speaker." Erika said with thin lips. "The hell is a Mass Mesher?" She looked up the device on the database, but it still didn't quite make sense. "A stealth unit? What ever." She said before turning to the SOFT team "Come along, we'll get you come food while this lot are wrapping up."

"Um, I got a ship," Poppy blinked as she got a data pad with the ship's information. "It's in orbit. You're not going to believe this...it's a Plumeria-class lost at Glimmergold. We're getting a new sister ship! I'm going to ask for it to be added to our little squadron!"

Sanda had ignored the Civilian Conversion Bringer of Thunder, Pack of seeds from hydroponic vessel for the more interesting items. First a medium size jewerly box. Very ornate and filled with very expensive jewelry. It had to be expensive... It was some of the ugliest stuff Sanda had ever seen. but there were a few pretty items in there too. The string of pearls would never go out of style and matching flower earrings and hair pin were pretty too.

Yayoi observed the weapon she'd received, and silently searched online before she discovered it was a Lorath weapon.

"You know, for a vanished civilization the Lorath sure left a lot of crap around the sector," Cassie laughed, opening her next package only to be on the way to the dumpster again. "It's used carpet, what the hell."

"yeah.. i cant wait to see what this thing can do later" Yayoi said to Cassie.

Yuri meanwhile managed to open a box and out popped, a adorable racoon! "aww wow cute! hello little one!"

The Multi-Function Bracelet looked interesting but Sanda was more interested in the long case. Could be a weapon. But she was interupted by poor Cassie sudden scream.

Cassie opened her last box and a decaying headless dead body rolled out of it. The stench was incredibly foul and rancid. "Fuck!" she gagged, trying not to vomit.

"Aw, Cass." Sanda said sympathetically. That was a terrible draw. Sanda glanced down at her collection of loot. "Tell you what Cassie. You can have this jewerly box. Most of this stuff clashes with my tattoos but I think you could pull it off. It's yours if you want it."

Yayoi blinked as she saw the body, not yet seeing what Yuri got as she glanced to the body.

"Eeww," Cheilith said looking for something to mask the smell.

"Can...I put it in the dumpster?" Cassie asked.

"We have to turn it in for identification," Poppy shook her head. "I'll call for the MPs and a hearse."

"Yhea, it's a person, even if we don't know who they are. I'll say some prayers at the shrine for them." Cheilith agreed.

"Okay, listen up," Beryl said, "Here's the rules: The Resurgence isn't your house, you can bring aboard anything that you can fit in your duffel or wall locker, plus anything the captain gives permission for. For things like weapons and vehicles they can be donated to the ship's inventory with the captain's permission and then you can request for them back later if you're leaving the ship. Understand anything we carry aboard is not insured or guaranteed to come back from our missions. We're a military, we don't use private gear with the exception of swords but if it becomes military inventory that's okay. When in doubt talk to the CO. Everyone got it?"

Trowa had climbed into the mecha he had received and was looking over the controls. This thing looked pretty advanced but he still wasn't even sure who made it. He poked his head out and called down to Norita. "Getting anything?" He had asked the armorer to see if she could pull up any data on the mecha.

"I think it's a lost KFY prototype, but there's no data, it's all so classified. But if it was intended for the Star Army I don't see why we couldn't use it...with Aoba's permission. Also I'm not sure where we'd fit it..?" Norita replied to Trowa, rubbing her chin.

Yuri glanced over, cradling the adorable Racooon in her arms as she listened to Beryl.

"I am donating my ship to the Star Army, then," Poppy said, "It should be back in service, and we could use a hand against the Mishhu."

Yayoi nodded her head "agreed, the vehicle i got will likely be donated, as for this weapon.. i'll send it back to my bar, maybe use it as a defense weapon.." Yayoi glanced over to Yuri. "Yuri what did-hang on whats in your arms?"

"a cute little Racoon!" Yuri said, fortunately it was still stunned.

"Do you know how destructive those things are?" Poppy laughed. She looked at the raccoon. It was really adorable. "Aww."

Yayoi blinked her eyes, and felt the usual feelings she'd get. She was certain the captain wouldnt want the racoon on the ship.

"What are you going to do with him?" Poppy asked, pondering possible solutions.

"Plenty of trash around the starport to live off of," Cassie shrugged, wondering if it could simply survive living in the ship's hangar.

Yuri smiled at Poppy "i'm gonna keep him!, i'll give him more than trash! unless they've evolved as eco creature that eats trash so the environment would be helped? ooh! I'm sure it will love the trash we make!"

Meanwhile Yayoi sighed, and stepped towards Yuri.

Trowa nodded. He thought as much. If it was Star Army property then he could potentially use it in the service. However Norita was correct. This thing was pretty big. Where in the world would they store it? "Thanks for checking Norita. I think I'll take it for a quick spin first then see if it's worth asking Aoba for permission. Maybe I'll send it to my cousin Thomas. He's got a Sharie Battleship. They've got room for this." With that, Trowa closed the hatch and fired it up.

Even though Trowa wasn't a mech pilot, he still understood the basics. After a quick systems test Trowa hit the thrusters. The suit took off with surprising speed. "Yee-ha!"

"Wow, look at him go!" Euikoshi said, making a "not bad" facial expression and nodding, a little impressed at it all. "What if the dropship Pidole got was converted into a mecha carrier?" she brainstormed.

"Thanks for the treasure box," Cassie told Sanda, getting emotional as she finally opened in and saw all the beautiful jewelry. "I can't tell you how much it means to me."

Sanda smiled. "Looked like you had a pretty crappy haul. Besides, the more I think of it, the more I think that those jewels will look way better on you than me." Laughing Sanda turned back to the final box she had yet to open. "Looks bigger than a bread box." She commented.

It was a sword case. "Well this should be good." Sanda began to open it as she spoke. "I'm very much a knife girl so I...I..." her voice trailed off. Inside was a beautiful katana. She reached for it gently almost hesitently. As her fingers touched the handle there was an autable crackle and a static spark appeared. "Ouch!" Sanda jerked her hand back. "It shocked me!" Increable!

"Oh wow, it looks made for you," Cassie said, impressed. "The color almost matches your tattoo!"

"I don't think anything has ever shocked me since I got my tattoos." Sanda said indignantly. Although it was the most beautiful sword she had ever seen. Cassie was right, it did almost match her tattoos. What were the odds of that? She reached down again and picked up the sword with more conviction. This time it didn't shock her. Gently she pulled it out of the case and then drew the blade. "Santo trueno" She breathed. Just above the tang was a Yamataian character. It simply meaned Arc. "Arc." Sanda whispered. "You and me are going to get better acquainted. I need to ask Koyama if she'll teach me how to use you properly.

Yayoi approached her daughter Yuri, who was playing with her adorable little raccoon. She knew the strict rules and regulations of the Star Army, as well as those specific to the starship YSS Resurgence. Since the raccoon was a pet, and Yayoi was unsure about its utility on the ship, she realized that Yuri would need to make arrangements before the ship embarked on its next mission.
"Yuri," Yayoi began, "I understand how much you love your raccoon, but you know the rules on the Resurgence. We need to make sure it won't be a problem during our next mission. Have you thought about what we should do with your furry friend?"

Yuri looked up at her mother, and frowned "no.. i hadn't but we could send her to Miss Wang couldn't we? she's always watched over your bar, the Kakushi Nekoba while we're away on duty right?
Yayoi considered her daughter's suggestion. Miss Wang, the caretaker of their family's bar, the Kakushi Nekoba, had always been reliable when it came to watching over their affairs during their duty assignments. It seemed like a reasonable option.

"That's a good idea, Yuri," Yayoi replied, nodding. "Miss Wang has been a trustworthy friend to us, and she's familiar with the raccoon. I'll give her a call and see if she can take care of our little friend while we're on the next mission. It will ensure that the raccoon is well looked after, and we can focus on our duties without any concerns."

Yayoi reached for her communication device to contact Miss Wang and make the necessary arrangements for their raccoon's care during their upcoming mission on the YSS Resurgence.

Yuri understood the necessity of following the rules, even if it meant her raccoon couldn't come along on the mission. She was aware that Pidole's beetle, Bidole, had a unique symbiotic relationship and could serve a purpose on the ship. Training the raccoon to serve a similar function might be too time-consuming, and the mission couldn't wait.

Yayoi placed the call to Miss Wang to make the arrangements, and while Yuri might be saddened by her raccoon's absence, she knew it was the responsible choice for their mission on the YSS Resurgence. Sometimes, the rules and practicalities of spacefaring required making difficult decisions.

With the arrangements made, Yayoi hugged her daughter, knowing that this decision was best for the mission and their raccoon. Together, they prepared to transport the little raccoon to its new home with Miss Wang. While it was a bittersweet moment, they knew it was the responsible choice, and they would soon be focused on their mission aboard the YSS Resurgence.
