Designed as a joint venture between Origin Industries and Jayden Solaris of the Nepleslian Star Navy in YE 36
Inspired by laser weapon systems created for use in starfighters by Origin Industries, Jayden drew up a design that not only refined but looked to greatly enhance the firepower of both existing and future fighter crafts. Having offered up the proposed upgrades and revisions to their Heavy Lasers starfighter weapon, Jayden worked together with weapon designers from Origin and with oversight from Origin Defense Manufacturing, the Heavy Pulse Laser Vulcan was created.
Designed to be a Gatling gun style laser cannon, the Heavy Pulse Laser Vulcan incorporates a five barrel multi emitter array with emphasis on long service life and less required maintenance. Each barrel is fitted with its own emitter and set of focusing lenses which are mechanically spun in sequence to allow each barrel to cool down after being fired and reduces overall strain on the system. The cannon requires a connection to the power generation systems of the starfighter and is regulated through the use of built in hyper capacitors to allow an immense amount of power to be rapidly focused and dispersed without overloading the weapon system.
The HPLV offers an impressive rate of fire and largely increased range of fire within atmospheric use in contrast to its predecessors. The use of a rotary firing system not only aids in increasing the ROF of the weapon, it also allows for higher overall energy output resulting in a more highly focused and damaging laser pulse. The blue laser fired from the HPLV works in the very same manner as existing laser weapon systems created by Origin Industries in that it causes its damage simultaneously, causing small explosions on armor and unarmored targets, due in part to the materials suddenly overheating and flash-vaporizing. This vaporization, which expands the material, causes wider damage than simply the local area of the hit.
