The first space fleet ever to be created by Abwehrans, the Ersteflotte was created in AF 200 as a police force during the System Expansion of the time. In AF 236, the Ersteflotte began to turn into a full-fledged military fleet as pirate attacks began to increase and served as the main battle force during the Pirate Wars.

By the end of the Pirate Wars, the Ersteflotte had swelled to a force of nearly 500 ships strong and continued to grow in what some thought of as an insane attempt to solidify military power of space. It had grown to a size that wasn't financial sound by AF 259, when the Abwehrans made first contact with the Yamataian's Fifth Expeditionary Fleet.

Afterwards, the Ersteflotte was significantly decreased in size in order to use the raw materials of older vessels in preparation to build newer warships for a planned expansion outside the Jaspis System. With the help of the CSEIA, the Ersteflotte received it's first four prototype Scout Ships in late AF 259.
