Department Heads of Nachrichtendienst, Vertreters are individuals who are appointed by the Geschäftsführer of the Nachrichtendienst¹⁾. Vertreter's do not go out into the field nor to they really lead their departments from the front. For all intents and purposes, the Vertreter manages the agents, cells, and analysts of their department.
