Löwenhertz-class Zerstören

The latest warship of the First Generation warships, this destroyers was the epitome of warship design when it was first created in AF 101.

About the Ship

Designed to be a heavier escort ship than the Tempelritter, the Löwenhertz-class Zerstören carries less anti-fighter and anti-missile weaponry to make room for more anti-ship weapons. The Zerstören has close to the speed of a Fregatten with weaponry almost the equivalent of Cruiser class vessels. This makes the Löwenhertz ideal for heavy recon and escort mission profiles.

Key Features

  • N/A

Mission Specialization

The Löwenhertz was designed to take on other small warships as a powerful escort vessel.

Appearance

History and Background

Demand for better Anti-ship vessels began to surface in the Weltraumflotte Brass as they saw the development and construction of two weaker escort ships near completion. Though there was no need for such vessels at that time, Weltraumflotte officers were almost certain that other life could be outside their solar system. If Gefahr could be inhabited by an alien race, so could other worlds in other systems.

Thus Kaizerlich F+E was pressed to create a heavy escort ship to satisfy the hounding military brass temporarily. The research division was starting to realize the larger the class, the longer it would take to design quality chassis for the purposes they were intended for. So the Löwenhertz-class Zerstören was born. Named after the prestigious military family responsible for the old fascist military's defection to the rebellion, the Löwenhertz was designed to be a versatile craft to counter both strike craft, missile, and capital ship. Though the armor would be weaker than a larger warship, it would be faster than such ship-killers. Though it hasn't been battlefield tested against warships of its class, the Löwenhertz has been in mass-production for twenty years.

Inside the Ship

Armory

Located near the Hanger Bay, the Armor holds enough weaponry for both crew and Marine complement on board. It also holds 24 Infantry Power Armor.

Bridge

The same size as a Fregatten's Bridge with the same exact number of officers. The Captain traditionally sits in the middle with the pilot in front of him (Note: the Captain controls the firing of the Ion Cannon). The Sensors officer and Communications officer positions are split between two people who are positioned on either side of the Captain's chair.

Captain's Suite

Much more luxurious than their smaller counterparts, the Captain suite of a Löwenhertz is divided into three sections: a bedroom, day cabin, and bathroom. The bedroom contains a full-sized bed with dresser and an end table by the bed with a communications panel. The Day Cabin acts as an office for the Captain, while the bathroom connects the two sections.

Cargo Storage Areas

Located near the Hanger Bay, the Cargo Storage Area is large enough to fit at least three Main Battle Tanks stacked one on top of the other or side by side both length and width wise.

Crew Quarters

The same type of set up as a Fregatten. Both enlisted and officers have their own separate barrack-style living quarters with the Captain being the only one with separate quarters.

Crew Recreation

Larger than the Fregatten's Rec Room and has even more recreational equipment. But unlike the Fregatten, the Löwenhertz includes a small bar though alcohol is on a restricted use policy.

Engineering

Much larger than its Fregatten counterpart due to more power consumption, the Löwenhertz Engineering needs more engineers so that it may properly function.

Maintenance Conduits

Small passageways that technicians have to crawl through, they are large enough for an adult Abwehran male to crawl on his hands and knees.

Passageways

The passageways of a Löwenhertz, like most of its counterparts, are spartan and have a naval vessel-feel to them.

Galley/Lounge

Larger than the Fregatten's Galley/Lounge with the officers having their own separate table.

Medical Bay

Large enough to accommodate a larger amount of patients, the Löwenhertz medical bay is one of the preferred medical facilities for the combat zone currently. With one doctor and a small staff of medical technicians, it is one of the more staffed ship-board medical facilities.

Hanger Bay

Only a little bit larger than the Fregatten Hanger Bay with only one Schiffchen, the rest of the room is so that other Schiffchen may land temporarily.

6. Ship Systems

Armored Hull and Hull Integrated Systems

The Löwenhertz is built using the Tri-Layer Armor in combination with standard military hull and framework.

Hull-Integrated Systems

Airlock System

There are 4 docking ports on the Löwenhertz: two port and two starboard. This enables the craft to dock to multiple ships at once, though it is mostly useful for carrying Korvetten.

Computers and Electronics

CU-23 Multipurpose Computer System

A powerful and robust computer system using the standard military processors connected via molecular circuits to connect to the various Data Storage and Displays on board.

Detection Systems
Communications Systems

Emergency Systems

Life Support Systems

The Löwenhertz utilizes Unidirectional Gravity Plating to create artificial gravity on board and a standard recycling and filtration system for matters involving air and water purification.

Propulsion

The Löwenhertz is equipped with four Ion Engines.

Shield Systems

The only shield available on the Löwenhertz is the Hazard Shield.
