Often the Scientific Studies Service (SSS) men and women find themselves on expeditions on uninhabited planets. This is one of the reason that they have support personnel trained in Expedition. These folks are often trained in survival in a variety of environments. These people are often trained in reconnaissance, and land navigation. Most are comfortable with living off the land, and foraging.

Other people who are in this classification are general workers for an expedition. They are trained in the capabilities, setup and operation of the Collapsible Rapid Deployment Module. They are trained in basic field protocols, such as working a site, preserving artifacts, etc.
