-The design process began around the same time that the [[stararmy:nh-32]] was started in [[:ye_32]]. The goal was to develop an upgrade to the series that could be easily adapted to military life. With the ongoing [[:second_mishhuvurthyar_war]] there were several concerns to be addressed. [[yamatai:ketsurui_zaibatsu]] worked on this and consulted with [[stararmy:sara]] regarding security upgrades they were planning to implement. Another factor that influenced the design, and was why the design became a complete overhaul was the [[stararmy:species_restriction_order]]. [[yamatai:ketsurui_zaibatsu]] wanted to be sure that any citizen who chose to enlist would not be subject to another racially motivated order. For this reason the NH-31 featured an upgrade to a military version that would be compatible with any equipment used by the [[:star_army_of_yamatai]].
