Equiped to handle data retrival and sensor data from the ships sensor array; the lab is split into only two smaller labs, each assigned to a unique task:
The center lab helps augment the two smaller and has a holographic tank that displays the planet of choosing for colonizing. The science lab works in conjunction with the colonization bridge, to determine a good location for setting down the initial colony. It also monitors seismic activity and weather patterns and also serves as the temporary 'weather control station' during a colony's initial startup phase.
It is manned by a single officer and sixteen enlisted, all split between the three section.
