The Ke-T8-W3100 was developed for use on the Ke-T8 "Kuma" Multi-role Shuttle and became available in YE 31.
This is the primary weapon for the Kuma and during development the designers added a few enhancements. The enhancements include a rotating mount allowing the weapon to fire at up to 30º degrees to either side of the nose of the shuttle. They also incorporated an additional mode of fire.
During the development work it was decided to upgrade this weapon system from the basic type of Aether beam used on the Ke-T4 "Fox" Combat Aeroshuttle.
The Aether Beam weapon is mounted so that it can track to left or right. Additional focusing coils provide the capability of a second mode of fire.

This is the default mode for the weapon. It operates exactly like the original model on the T4. Purpose: Anti-Starship Damage: Tier 9, Heavy Anti-Mecha Range: 500,000 miles Rate of Fire: Two Five-second bursts every 15 seconds Firing Arc: Weapon can be aimed at up to 60 degrees to left and right and 15 degrees up and down Payload Effectively Unlimited.
This mode is allows for defensive fire against incoming missiles, and for attacking numbers of armor.
