In YE 43 the Star Army of Yamatai introduced a maternity variant of the Star Army Duty Uniform, Type 42.

The cost of the complete uniform, including footwear, is 250 KS and can be obtained by Star Army personnel at a Star Army Clothing Store.

By popular demand, the Star Army has been interested in creating a maternity version of its uniforms for several years, for example in YE 40, there was an attempt make a maternity uniform “Type 40” that was based on the Gallery for the Type 35 Duty Uniform, but it fell through and was never adopted officially. During this period soldiers like Arbitrated Iemochi had to get by with customized or unofficial versions of standard uniforms whatever their sympathetic starship captain let them get away with.

Finally, in YE 43, Taisho Ketsurui-Shinjuku Hanako submitted a design in YE 43.6 and approved and entered production in YE 43.7.

The uniform consists of two main parts: A top jacket with a pleated lower section that covers the belly from above, and pants that have a stretchy top section that covers the belly from below (up to the sternum)¹⁾. The jacket has removable panels on the chest for when the soldier needs to express milk or breastfeed that are attached via Molecure Tape.

The features of the uniform are the same as the Star Army Duty Uniform, Type 42, to include:

• Built-in communicator
• Dataweave
• Varihue
• Volumetric projector crystal

The uniform is authorized for use by any soldier who, due to pregnancy, requires an alternate uniform to comfortably fit her body shape.

The usage of this uniform is otherwise the same as the Star Army Duty Uniform, Type 42.
