A question about torpedos

I was looking over the wiki and while there is plenty of information regarding the warheads, descriptions, damage, launchers, etc. I find that there are a few items not discussed. Namely what is used for propulsion of the torpedo? And can they be fired within atmosphere?

I've been checking around at the different types of ships and the torpedo section usually defaults to what I have already seen. Otherwise it just describes where the torpedo is launched from that kind of ship.

Any words on this?
 
Well the AS-7 lists Propulsion: Continuum Distortion Micro-drive, but its the only one that makes mention of propulsion
 
Okay I can go with that being the common means for propulsion. So does the Continuum Distortion Micro Drive function in atmospheric conditions? Or at least are there any issues that affect performance?
 
Atmosphere shouldn't much of a deterrent for a CDD propelled torpedo for someone not too interested in the welfare of a planet.

However, in the case of the Ketsueki escorts about to fire on Hoshi, you can probably count on the AS-5 being fired atmosphere-to-atmosphere to go at a speed over Mach 20.
