Fort Hanako

"A cabin? Hmm, yes...the Chui has not yet moved out of her old cabin, but we did have another former crew member who recently departed." Mitsuko smiled at that particular fact. "I will assign you to Cabin 5 then. If you have any problems finding it, Charisma can show you the way. We could always stop there first to deposit your belongings....unless you'd like to stop at the Medical Center first?" Her eyes flickered down to that limp for a moment, before returning to their new passenger. "Operation...we're after the Kuvexians, apparently. Did the Shosho bring you on to help with that in some way?" She wondered what sort of expertise the civilian might have to offer. She had a bad history with those types, although hopefully he would be more useful in her eyes than the last passenger they'd picked up.

"Oh, yes...later..." She nodded to the strange man, letting Victory guide him instead. Apparently those two had gotten to know each other during their trip. Nothing wrong with preferring a more familiar guide, she thought.

Murakami headed to her own cabin, to ensure her belongings were settled properly. Then she could finally change into that new uniform she'd ordered, now that there was no longer sand, surf and sun to worry about. It felt comfortable and familiar, even if it wasn't exactly the same as the one she'd lost on Ether. During all of this she mentally adjusted the crew roster, finding this Wazu's name to add to the cabin assignment. She sent a polite reminder to Natsumi about the now empty Cabin 1, which was waiting for her, if/when she decided to move in.

Ding chimed Candon's datapad. Looking back to his tablet he noticed a message from Wazu.
Joto Hei Candon Howard Suites,

Is the Kuvexian body still in your possession?

-Wazu

Candon thought about it for a moment before responding. He wasn't exactly sure whose custody the remains had fallen to but he got the impression from the autopsy specialists that a handful of bone fragments weren't going to be helpful in any way.

Wazu-san,

I am not sure which department has received the enemy pilot's remains however I was informed that his suicide device left only a handful of bone fragments. While they have not yet identified what substance was in the Nano injector in his tooth we can tell that it was very efficient in breaking down the pilot's body, all flesh based tissue was liquefied along with most of his skeletal structure.

Aikiko stepped back out of Jax's way, letting him escape if he so desired. Her stoic expression broke with a warm smile as her eyes twinkled merrily in the ambient light. "Jackson, My little kitten. I don't know what you did on your shore leave. But you impressed the hell outta of ..." Via telepathy ~~Umeshu~~ then switching back to normal speech to keep Candon from getting too suspicious even though he was probably off someplace in the P.A. Bay doing his own thing. "...her. If you need my help, let me know."

She reached out quickly and gave Jax a firm, yet gentle shoulder squeeze. "Give her this," Pulling a slim stiletto along with a scabbard for it, from a hidden spot on her skinsuit. "She can use this as a hair pin or what ever, along with a note, saying, 'enjoyed our time together, wish it lasted longer so I could take you for a ride on my hoverbike.' got it?" Remembering the look Umeshu gave while watching him depart on his 'bike'.

She hoped she was helping Jax, cause she didn't want him distracted at a critical moment in the upcoming confrontation with the Kuvexians.

Wazu quickly typed up another message,

Joto Hei Candon Howard Suites,

Did you see how the suicide device was activated? Maybe we can find a way to remotely activate them.

-Wazu

His reply took no time to think about.
Wazu-san,

The device used by the pilot appeared to operate manually. He bit down on his molar like it was a cyanide capsule. This device could probably only be hacked with a rifle but there may be others. We need another specimen and technology if possible. It wouldn't surprise me if their ships contained suicide devices as well.

Suites-Hei

He sent the message but still a question nagged at Candon's mind. He sent another.

Why are you here?

Dropping into the console Nats had pointed at, Tony started to set it up for a tactical station. With screens for weapons control and targeting she started finally feeling like she was in her place again. So when Nats brought up they were to work on the ship hunting specs she nodded and went to work. Though she kept closing the text messages that popping up interrupting her. They weren't form Nat's or The Captain so they weren't importunated to her task at the moment.

Okay, Jax didn't even want to know where that stiletto had come from, considering the skin tight suit. But he graciously accepted it anyways.

"Thanks, Aikiko." he said with a small grin. "Now, I'm gonna get to work replacing that bulb."

He pointed to the ceiling, where there was, in fact, a burned out light-bulb.

Wazu would eventually reply back, though this response would take quite a bit longer than the last.

Joto Hei Candon Howard Suites,

Hanako was in need of a science officer, though she may know more than I in that regard.

I suppose the full answer is more complicated. Is there something specific you would like answered?

Natsumi read the reply note from Wazu, twice, to make sure she recorded every detail. He had a lot of sound ideas.

Natsumi pulled up all of the tactical data they had on file of the enemy vessels they had encountered so far and sent it to Tony's station.

This is what we have on them so far, tactical and battle recordings from our last encounter, might come in handy for your weapons solutions

She sent to Tony's station. Natsumi then got to her feet and crossed the bridge, arriving at Wazu's. "You have a lot of good ideas for locating these aliens" she said with a nod. "I would like to implament as many if these options as possible to improve our odds of locating our targets" she went on. "We do have direct sensor data on some of their vessels, we got fairly detailed scans of the vessels we engaged recently. That, along with whats been gathered on their colony vessels. We can plug this all in to Charisma and have her work up a sensor model for rapid ID."

"As for visiting the planet, I agree, this would be a good chance for gathering direct intel. Umeshu communicated with the Rixxicore on the previous mission, they may not speak the same language as these Kuvexians... Though I would not be suprised if they have learned our languages, it makes sense to know the languages of those you plan to invade."

Umeshu was inwardly very pleased seeing the assembled Task Force surrounding the Eucharis as they moved to the edge of Hanako's Star system as one and all began turning maneuvers to align for the first fold coordinates she transmitted. It was much like group martial arts practice, moving simultaneous to your sisters around you in a kata. Her inbuilt humility from genetics always made her yearn to want to be part of something bigger than herself, and if it was not to be the Samurai House, then she would definitely be satisfied with the current state of affairs under Hanako's brave leadership. "We have reached the system's edge. Now beginning Fold Drive charging," the purple-skinned operator announced pleasantly to the others assembled, "Please prepare for hyperspace travel in 60 seconds..." The ship's power systems rumbled to greater life as the bow of the Plumeria aimed true for its destination, the dim glow of the aether beginning to faintly surround its tip.

In matters of the heart, though, she was not so sure of where things needed to go... Umeshu was still trying to find her way through that maze, and no amount of astrometric navigation could do so. But she had to make some headway, now that she had a moment to direct attentions elsewhere as things were on automatic. The Chui scanned the MEGAMI's locators of all accounted crew members, and noticed that Jax had left main engineering and was now in the Power Armor bay. Curious... why was he not at his station with Cherry-heisho? Maybe this was the opening she needed.

She hesitated a few seconds, before steeling herself and opening a communications link. The technician soon heard in his ear that familiar voice, trying to keep a businesslike innocence. "Hashimoto-chui to Jackson-hei, I noticed you were not in main engineering. Is there... er... any issue I should know about before I begin our first fold?" True, it was disingenious, considering being connected to the ship itself via SPINE showed her green on every indicator.

Candon loved long stories.
Everything. Meet me in the wardroom when your shift ends.

Just as he hit the send button, "Hashimoto-chui to Jackson-hei, I noticed you were not in main engineering. Is there... er... any issue I should know about before I begin our first fold?" Rang through the intercom.

He hadn't paid much attention to Jax or his girl trouble but he had noticed how shaken up he seemed when he'd entered. The problem must Jane been bigger than he thought. Now he was concerned. He would ask if Jax needed help in engineering before he left.

Jax nearly toppled off the ladder when he heard Umeshu's voice. He swallowed a little. She was the pilot, he was the tech. They'd have to speak at some point.

"Uh, no, Um- er- Ma'am. Just a faulty bulb, that's all." he replied, rather awkwardly, knowing it was improper to call her by her first name when on duty. To try and ease the mood a little, he spoke again.

"By the way, the engineering department humbly thanks you for that stellar flying. Less of a chance of malfunction when we really have to push this boat to its limits. Keep it up!"

P.A. Bay

Aikiko nodded as Jax was on the road to recovery. She walked off, letting Jackson be, turning her attention back her duties at hand. She removed the Manipulator Arms pack off and feeling the slight loss of having extra limbs. She would never get used that feeling.

Pausing next to Candon as she passed by. "Jax should be fine. Just needed a females perspective." Then moved on to secure the unit she carried to her new Mindy.

"Alright," Candon replied to Aikiko though watching a flight capable Minkin almost fall off a ladder did not inspire much confidence. "Jax," he shouted, more out of concern than anything else, " just float up and change the damned light!"
Great, now I'm just like Mom.

Jax stopped and stared at Candon quizzically. Do what now?

For a few moments, you could almost see the gears turning in his head. Then it hit him.

"Right!" Jax grunted. He focused for a few more seconds. It was still difficult getting used to the artificial lifestyle. Then, ever so graciously, Jax shot up like a firework, struck the ceiling with a loud bang, then fell back to the floor.

Now he remembered why he didn't fly!

"Damn it, spooky! Look what you did!" he groaned from the floor while rubbing his head. Then, he quickly climbed back up the ladder and replaced the bulb.

Aikiko bursted into giggles at catching the glimpse of Jax antics. She checked the security of the Manipulator Arms set on her Mindy, making sure the injector ports were aligned up for a clean connection even with the Mindy on.

Wazu would nod as Natsumi spoke, taking a moment to digest what she was saying.

“Maybe you could help me with packaging that data for Charisma?” As he spoke his datapad would be doing the basics, using pre-made macros to request sensor data, process it, and turn it into usable statistics. The finished data was just being dumped onto whatever default storage location the datapad was being provided... leaving Wazu and Natsumi to sort through and turn it into something more legible by the crew.

He would then pause again, mulling over how to respond to the second part of the statement,

“We can also work back from the sensor logs and start determining the type of weaponry used on their ships... We can also count hits you scored on them to infer shield and hull strength... “ By this point Wazu was intentionally going slow with his words, wanting to find the right way to bring up the next topic, “If we can get more information on what they are after we could avoid a fight... of course for that we will also need cultural information.”

Candon stood there speechless, unable to fathom how this kid managed to land a job on Eucharis. His stomach dropped as he concluded in his mind a grim fate, Dear Space, we're all going to die on the first fold…

Aikiko snapped him from his shocked state with her giggling. Though part of him found the overall situation hilarious he still couldn't shake the feeling that Jax was going to get himself hurt or worse in the coming battle.

Umeshu was a little confused when he mentioned a 'bulb', but seeing as Jax was the technician here she trusted that it was probably business as usual for him down below. His complement about the smoothness of her flying made some of her jitters begin to abate, and she wondered if that meant things were okay between the two now? At least they were talking with each other, which hadn't happened in weeks since the little party ended in that unexpected moment. The operator responded with a polite, "Arigatou, I will make sure to keep things smooth for your important work as well, fixing those malfunctions." The note of encouragement seemed simple on the surface, but it held a more heartfelt meaning.

A moment later, a text communication ran through his digital mind, an apologetic ping from Umeshu: Gomennasai, Jax-san. I... I just wanted to hear your voice again. To not jump into danger acting like strangers.

This mixed in with the rhythmic hum of the field regulators inside the hyperspace fold drive not far from where he was starting to spin faster in opposing directions, an ever-expanding bubble of a violet-hued, isolated space being spun around the Eucharis and its sister ships bit by bit.

"Of course, I would be more than happy to" Natsumi replied to the suggestion of helping prep information for the computer, she had been already as it was.

"i would prefer to avoid another fight as well" She said, "With how much they are pressing into our territory though, that may not be avoidable... To get cultural information we will need to obsurve or make contact with them. Hopefully we can neet one that doesn't immediatly kill themselves next time"
