Previously Submitted? Laser container was previously submitted, pretty much just resubmitted as-is since this is how the container is supposed to be used: as part of a weapon submission.

Notes:
The planet-cracking opreation has been mentioned a few times in RP, but it hasn't been put on the wiki yet.

This suggestion has been implemented. Votes are no longer accepted.
Would @Fred also mind weighing in on this, please?

6: Nerf the ability to keep operating when sliced in half? That's dumb. Its a 2km long ship and a computer that can run the whole thing fits in a 20x5x4m cargo container. Obviously you're going to have one of those near every major piece of equipment. Each cargo container also has its own power and other systems. Why would you even ask this?

[...]

9: Optimally there is no rear barrier, there are just two front and 4 movable barriers for a total of 6. Really its just the normal 6 facing barrier but instead of transferring power between shields there are moving turrets to adjust shield facing. It shouldn't even need any extra approvals.

I can just barely follow some of the more technical bits of this conversation, but on the whole 'sliced into chunks' thing, maybe make it more clear how well you expect the chunks to work? I'd assume they'd be missing life support if they're open to space, might not have enough maneuvering thrusters on that chunk to move it around properly, have a working weapon but no shield (or vice versa), or have a weapon but no way to aim it. Jagged edges might make bits difficult to move properly, get in the way of weapons fire, drag in strange ways, etc. Does that make sense?

Having a chunk that's been blasted off able to make a last ditch effort to ram into an enemy or be sent spinning wildly and have to time a few lucky shots sounds more interesting and fun than just having the ship break into smaller, perfectly maneuverable mini-ships each time it takes damage.

I just want to note that Perfect Iron is something that's been used in SARP since its really early days, and was, IIRC, originally introduced in NovaCorp ships. Unfortunately, there's no materials: page for it and there probably should be since it doesn't exist in real life, as far as I know. I think I vaguely remember seeing an article that said it couldn't exist. So I tried searching for it on Google to get more information and all I got was dietary supplements, hair curlers, and golf clubs.

Yeah i got the same thing when searching for it, if everyone else is busy I'd be happy to write up the article on it for the site and cross another small item off the to-do list

@Reynolds, the ship article has enough information in it about how you'd expect the ship to work if it were cut in half. Compute / sensors / weapons / etc are distributed all over the ship, so if the back end was cut off then each system on each side of the ship should still work assuming the internal-bits for that system haven't been damaged.

Sections would still be able to orient themselves a little (there are reaction wheels inside the electronics containers) but sections without engines obviously wouldn't be able to move, though you could send some of the tugs to push things around.

3: It uses FSC parts, and has final assembly at Howard Station so FSC needs to be listed. Rizzo should have cleared that up with Alex by now.

Oh, he and I have had a talk. Basically, you can use FSC parts and have FSC build it but they'll be trading this for one huge favor. Maybe not now, maybe not tomorrow, but someday, FSC will ask for something. Because he's explained to me that they're essentially the Mafia.

Ok, that is fine. I was just proceeding with the agreement that FSC has had with the USO from before: reciprocal technology trade and we throw them a bone when there is starship work to be done.

I see a lot of problems with this @Ametheliana. Mainly that it relies heavily on unapproved subarticles, and it's 12 tier 15 weapons.

Each of those is the same tier as https://wiki.stararmy.com/doku.php?id=stararmy:weapons:ke-b3-w3000_main_weapon_array. A SHARIE class battleship only has one of those. This is GROSSLY overpowered when compared to even the TOP tier of ships run by the most advanced military in the site.

In addition to this, it can rotate up to 5/6 tier 15 shields to face any attack, another grossly overpowered aspect of the ship.

Finally, it can't be approved under the https://wiki.stararmy.com/doku.php?id=guide:submission_rules#unwanted_articles because it's designed to circumvent existing rules and systems. It breaks the setting in so many ways it's hard to count them.

It is;
[ ] Overpowered

Hang on...what?

Yup. 12 T15 weapons. And in DRv3 the Sharie is a Tier 14 battleship. The Sharie can't even use 2 of those T15 beams. Not to mention the Sharie can't have six highly configurable shields, able to be rotated on a turret mount, and certainly can't function after even being sawn in half. Those latter two elements may pose high issues, and since it's an autonomous battleship, it doesn't even require population devoted to crewing it. I can see the C5, but not this.

By virtue of how Yamatai is meant to be top dog faction...the C8 should be nerfed, definitely.

There are no DR limitations anymore. 12 Tier 15 weapons is fine, for some reason. I liked DRv3 how it was when the wikipage had the Godzilla example @Fred. The major unapproved sub-articles could be submitted separately, but that would require defining which are major ones. If anyone wants to tell me which articles need to be separated from this submission, those suggestions are welcome.

The only person I am allowing to stand in the way of this ship is @Wes.

He and he alone can overturn my timer.

@FrostJaeger I'd say the ship-splitting should also be in there, since it's so impactful of how SARP itself would work that it would need to be submitted as a new tech despite being more of an innovation.

I don't know if it'd need to be submitted as an article. It's not a new part, or section of the ship. It's just that there's more than one central processing area. That's not really something that'd need a new article just about it.

Sure it's impactful, but not groundbreaking enough to write an article on the practice.
