Jack Pine

Well-Known Member
188604/ Osman star port/ late morning

The freighter's ramp lowered to give a hydraulic clank as it touched ground. A cargo unit began to move containers down the ramp as port authorities approached. The port was dusted with sand on the tarmac, as the harsh sun reflected off metal warehouses and the terminal. Mark Oaklen made his way down the same ramp, each boot giving a hollow thud against plating as he exited the ship and into the heat. Wearing a Revenant undersuit, black jeans, and a deep blue dress shirt which hung wide open h ing not been buttoned did not seem like an appropriate outfit. The suit made the heat negligible as he surveyed the land with deep blue eyes as he brought a hand to his brow to shade them, "Home sweet home I guess."

Jack sat in his office with Neera as they went over lab and technician reports. The fan in the ceiling whirred overhead as Jack swiped documents across the desk bored. He ran a hand down his face before taking a drink of some sort of local citrus soda. Wearing boots, black cargo pants, and a black muscle shirt. Neera droning statistics and reviews from a pad as she speedily swiped at data flipping through relevant information.

"I think I need a break honey, this can wait. It will be noon soon, let's go see what your mother's making for lunch." Jack said finishing the drink before absently tossing them empty can into a waste basket. Running a hand though his snow white hair as crimson eyes glowed momentarily to switch the terminal built into the wood desk to deactivate. He rubbed at his eyes, a hand running over the long scar that passed over his right eye, while the other caused his double helix tattoo curved around his left eye to shift.

"Oh, ok. Mom will like that, you have been working very hard lately. Too hard, so spending some time at home will be good for you. I know it's been hard, but we'll get him back." Neera stated as she set the pad aside before standing from the couch where she had been sitting. Straightening the skirt of her Section 6 uniform, the wolf anthro had the same hair and eye color as her father. she then placed a hand on Jack's shoulder as he came around the desk.

Jack gave his daughter a warm smile as he gently placed a hand gently atop hers, "I know, but we gotta work to get there." They then both exited the office with a pneumatic swish as the door opened. Entering into the main lab area, the two casually made their way towards the lifts.

"JACK, WHERE YOU AT?!"

Uso's voice was deafening, causing even Vier to cringe a little bit as the boss made her way into the facility, pallet of extremely rare wine in tow.

While Vier had her usual on... a basic runner's shirt and pants in muted colors, Uso had dressed up a little more than normal, adding a pointy party hat and one of those inflatable noise maker things to her usual bodysuit with attached belt and datapads.

Jack and Neera saw them coming so they were prepared. Jack rubbed at his face what now , "Yeah boss, right here. What's the special occasion?", He said stopping.

Neera sighed, "Why do I have a bad feeling about this dad?", She said lowly.[/I]

Late Morning

A clanking noise came from inside the freighter accompanied by a few beeps. Behind Mark, his adopted robotic daughter Chlorate stepped down the ramp with her metal feet making a racket with the "CLANK" they made each time they met the solid surface. Her illuminated yellow irises focused on Mark as the electronic girl asked "Father, what location are we in?" The metallic gynoid's voice was robotic, clearly not coming from an organic lifeform despite how her head appeared.

Late Morning

It was an odd group that stepped off of the freighter. Ozaki Kasumi followed just behind Mark and Chlorate as the adoptive familial pair exited the freighter. Kasumi had taken a few days of leave to visit the planet with Mark, which she knew that he had an intimate past connection with, although the extent of which was uncertain to her and Mark himself. Kasumi had opted to wear skintight black pants, four-inch black heels, and a white tank top with a cape-like, black blazer over it. Evidently, she had made no attempt to disguise her diminutive and long-eared Nekovalkyrja appearance. Although the recent economic unrest on the planet had put doubts in her mind about taking the trip, in truth, Kasumi herself was curious about Mark's past as well. If anything, the white-haired man was her close friend, and she did not intend to leave him to figure out his origins alone, without a familiar presence accompanying him. After all, her discovery had been the reason for the trip in the first place.

On her back was a black and nondescript duffel bag, which contained her luggage for the brief excursion, including her NSP and chakram. Kasumi did not anticipate having to utilize them, but in light of the recent crisis and the planet's reputation as a backwater world, the green-eyed Neko at least wanted to be prepared for the worst.

"Chlorate, this is 188604.", she stated in response to the gynoid's question.

"What is the occasion? Riots, a slew of attacks, invasions, and we're still here." Uso said, fishing out one of the bottles and lobbing it over to Jack in a slow toss. "It ain't over yet, but things are calming down enough that we can recover a bit."

*WHEEEEEEE....*

Uso blew on the noise maker once, letting it inflate and make that shrill sound.

Vier, seemed less than amused, though she didn't vocalize it.

"Fucking hell..." Jay muttered as he entered behind Uso. "Can we at least do this somewhere else?"

He was dressed casually in dark grey pants and a washed out green shirt - a rarity outside of his own house or Aster's.

Mark turned around to his two companions giving a smile to his daughter and his friend Kasumi. He looked back to the city that loomed past the terminal. His gear other than his pistols which hung on his hips, with the rest in a large crate which was being carried to the terminal.

"As Kasumi said this planet is called 188604, and as the info packet the captain of this ship had, the city is Osman. Section 6 seems to b located way outside city limits, and apparently has a very nice neighborhood." Mark answered as they made their way into the terminal.

They had cleared customs when an ad caught Mark's attention. It was a digital poster, upon it was the Section 6 emblem with the words 'join S6 today. Science, ops, solutions. Build a better future and a better world today'. But this wasn't what held his attention, because the man on the poster was one he saw in the mirror every morning. Granted it was the white hair and red eyes, but they held little life and that scared him.

This only stopped him momentarily before he moved on. They made their way outside to the parking lot where a aircabs kiosk was. Mark approached it hit the button to place a request. A scanner built into the top lit up and ran a beam over him.

[Welcome...Director, Jack Pine.]
[U5 enroute for transport to...Section 6]
[Estimate time of arrival...5 minutes]
[Fee waived]
[Enjoy your day]

"Well, that's interesting. I'm a director, sounds almost corporate. And my real name is apparently Jack Pine." Mark said both curious and confused at this clue. The luggage would appear outside as soon as the eight wheeled U5 did, the man behind the wheel waving them in as it was loaded in back on the right side. Four seats lined the opposite side of the back area of the vehicle and Mark began to climb in.

Jack deftly caught the bottle and examined the label, "ouch, somebody had a grudge and lost to the wrong person. Jay it's fine, she's the boss, so she can throw a party here if she wants. S6 wouldn't have existed for a long time without her. So, we're celebrating survival,......ironic."

This day three years ago was when things had gone to hell with a few deaths to mark the day. But he kept quiet about that, he needed focus. Neera pulled on his elbow for a moment, with a "hmm" he turned to her.

"This may sound stupid, but did you request a ride at the port just now dad?" Neera asked utterly confused at a message on her personal datapad.

Kasumi paused when the words, 'Director, Jack Pine' appeared on the scanner. Kasumi quickly pulled out her communicator and initiated a search for those exact words by telepathically transmitting the phrases. However, she did not need to execute any searches to put the clues together. The signs seemed to be all around her, from the Section 6 recruiting poster with Mark's face on it to the scanner just above the aircab kiosk. If anything, the man she had known as Mark Oaklen was known as "Jack Pine" by the denizens of this planet, and he was clearly important and powerful as well.

As she tossed her duffel bad in the back of the U5, she turned to stare at Mark, who seemed just as curious and confused as she was. The green-eyed Neko had trusted Mark for this long, but at that moment, she began to have doubts regarding the legitimacy of his identity.

Had she been lied to?

The dark thought seemed to prod in the back of her mind like a needle. She did not want to give in to fear and paranoia, but Kasumi knew that she had walked into something that was foreign, and potentially dangerous. However, the young Neko sensed that the situation was delicate, and therefore, it called for patience on her part.

"Let's have some patience and see where this takes us.", Kasumi stated smoothly, as she took her seat in the transport.

"Oh. I see." said Chlorate. She followed along and glanced at the digital poster, making a confused beep when she saw her father on it but not speaking up yet. Chlorate clanked into the parking lot and watched as scanner lit up. She seemed very confused when the scanner called Mark "Director Jack Pine". Instead of boarding the U5, Chlorate objected to... the scanner? "My apologies, but I believe you are mistaken," she looked up at the scanner and began telling it as if she were trying to converse with a fellow machine, "Mark Oaklen's name is not Jack Pine."

It was one of the rarer mornings that Aster had started her day in one of the offices versus the R&D labs. She had settled behind a desk and was working through a simulation for the home security system that Jack had tasked her with. The intern was hoping that the hybrid system would also count for a couple of her University assignments. The noise outside caught her attention over the sound of her headphones. She peeked out into the hallway and saw the others congregating. "That's a lot of wine, Tasuki-oneesan!" Her long black hair was loose on her shoulders with a pair of orange tinted glasses covering her violet eyes as she appraised the pallet.

She stepped out into the hallway from the office to get a better look at what they were doing. She was wearing a soft red long sleeve blouse that fell off her right shoulder over with black stockings that almost brushed the hem of her short black skirt. She smiled brightly at Jay when she noticed him there and she smoothed her skirt. "Hi Jay. Mr. Pine.. Neera-chan."

The incessant clicks and whirs of an office chair were not necessarily uncommon in the offices of S6, but today it was something different altogether. Abigail sped down the hall in her makeshift racer: a desk chair angled perfectly for her to propel it forward with her feet. The disheveled figure of Aras chased shortly after, attempting with all of her power to stop the speeding ball of office supplies, but never managing to come quite close enough. The only thing that could be heard over the sound of the chair was the screams of joy from the child. However annoying it may be, she was obviously enjoying herself.

With a sharp turn, Abigail entered the maw of the executives hallway. This also happened to be the place Aras wanted her to go the least. "She is so dead!" Aras shouted to herself. As Abigail flew down the hall however, she noticed the small group of people crowding around one office. Childish curiosity taking controll, Abigail kicked her feet into the floor, leaving a streak as she went along. That's going to be hell to clean up. It worked however, as the speeding chair stopped a few feet away from the crowd. "Are 'yall havin' a party?" She asked simply.

Mark was almost settled when he realized Chlorate wasn't onboard, "Kasumi, where's Chlo?"

He heard her speak behind them at the kiosk. Dismounting he walked over and picked up the young Android before carrying her back towards the U5, "Honey, that is an automated kiosk. It doesn't have any intelligence. We need to go now."

The U5 pulled away from the terminal and drove onto the main highway, travelling for a few minutes before turning onto a smaller highway. After another few minutes, a walled area could be seen in the distance, with two Indigo class guided missile frigates overhead.

"I'm getting a bad feeling here, don't suppose we can turn around can we?" Mark asked giving the structures and ships a worried look. The U5 drew Closer to the checkpoint that served as the entrance to what appeared to be a neighborhood.

The vehicle slowed to a stop in front of the checkpoint, "Uh, why are we stopping?" Mark asked now scared. Suddenly, troopers in black Revenant power armor that mirrored Mark's own surrounded the vehicle having been using ECS to remain unseen with USO-MWS1 carbines focused on Mark.

"Exit hands raised, you're to be taken custody."
"Target is pacified, orders commander? Yes Mr. Pine, understood commander."
"Alright scan him, we need to run checks while the commander is enroute."
"Affirmative. God, he looks like the boss. Even that bastard Lazarus looked different."

"Hey, I'm cooperating alright! Leave the girls alone, I'm not resisting. They haven't done anything wrong, leave them be!" Mark protested as he was pulled from the U5 and cuffed, having been pinned down in the road.

Jay nodded wearily at Jack to acknowledge his answer. Hearing Aster's voice in the hall, he turned around.

"Oh hello." He said, tiredness apparent. "Sorry for my appearance, Uso said this was 'important'. Any idea what this is about?"

Normally he would've been ready, but today he was finally catching up on all the sleep he'd list beefing up his home security system after the Lazarus incident.

Aster shook her head no and moved closer to Jay. "No idea. I think, you look fine," she said gently as she wrapped her arms around Jay and gave him a soft hug. "I had some ideas to run by you for the system I'm working on right now but that can wait until later, after you get a nap... if you felt up for it after whatever it is that Tasuki-oneesan has planned?" She smiled at Jay as she stood beside him. She was always happy to see him outside of the constraints of their respective roles.

Her attention drifted to Abigail and Aras as the chair rumbled into view. "I think.. I did something similar when I was Abby's age. Hi Abby." She offered the chair racer a smile and a little wave. "I take it the Doc is right behind you?"

"No..no I didn't. Get Casdan and get a squad ready intercept. He's doesn't even get past the fucking checkpoint. He's not escaping this time." Jack's expression hardened as he quickly went back into the office carrying a USO-MWS1 pistol with a carbine stock attached. He slapped in a 30 rounder magazine of .455 slags in before hurriedly running past everyone to the exit. Slinging his weapon and hopping onto his DR1 motorcycle, he sped away at high speed towards the checkpoint.

Uso was frowning as Jack left,

Though this provided plenty of amusement for Vier. She actually smiled just a bit.

"Yeah this is important," Uso said, picking up a bottle and tossing it over towards Aster. "Winning is important, and though we took some hits recently we were able to do something far more important than winnining: Not losing. I figured ya'll needed to decompress a bit... then Jack ran off... and seriously, Vier, couldn't you just have done whatever Jack needed to do with your drones?"

"I prefer to let most of you keep a sense of Agency," She replied, the aspiring robot-overlord taking her own bottle of wine from the case, along with a glass.

"Where are you taking him? What are the charges? Where are your warrants?", Kasumi demanded cooly, as Mark was pinned in the middle of the road by the armor-clad figures. She had stored her NSP in her duffel bag, which had been left in the seat of the U5 transport when she had exited the vehicle after seeing Mark get apprehended. NSP or not, Kasumi sensed that the situation was firmly out of her hands.

"Chlorate, stay back.", she spoke softly to the clueless seeming gynoid, as she placed protective hand in front of her.

"Threat detected," Chlorate beeped, seeing her father suddenly being arrested and aimed at with guns. She was about to get up, only for Kasumi to put her hand in front of her. "But... But..." Chlorate tried to protest, only she couldn't bring herself to- she was just a robot, an android, while Kasumi was a neko. How could she be allowed to disobey a real, non-robotic person? As far as Chlorate was concerned, she wasn't as... "real" as living organisms. Until recently she had merely been a program without a body other than a drone and another drone. Chlorate frowned, dissatisfied, saying "But father... error... I... Father is being threatened..." Mark could sense on his geist that Chlorate was distressed, she wanted to help mark but didn't want to argue with Kasumi.
