I'm definately interested...

Could we get some official rules posted in this thread by the Ultimate Vision people?

Alright finally getting to the working on Official Rules. Mind you some of it is being taken from my previous postings regarding the game during it's creation phase.

To determine who participates in the championship league, teams which had the best showing through the season will participate in the playoffs. Teams with low performances and wins will not be eligible for the playoffs. A season will typically consist of five matches between each team (number of teams will directly affect this). The playoffs will consist of several matches between these teams to determine the final two who battle for the championship.

Teams will consist of eight players, with allowance for stand by players should injuries occur which incapacitate the active team member. Teams will always have the standard number on the field. If a player has more then three technical fouls then they must be replaced with on of the stand bys.

Here is the basic game layout. Both teams go out, zapping each other, until someone finds a flag hidden randomly around the field but always at an equal distance between the goals so that narrows down it's location somewhat. Soon as the flag is claimed everyone is made aware of the location and chase or defend the player who has capture the flag and must now bring it back to their goal in order to score points. The flag can be stolen by the opposing team and taken to their goal to score with. The flag's location will not be announced until a team has actually taken posession. So if a player finds it they can report it's location and organize a play to retrieve it with the best chance of success. Games will run normally for roughly an hour broken into four fifteen minute quarters. There will be a break for about five minutes between quarters and a thirty minute break at the half time mark. Time Outs will only be called should a significant injury occur. Depending on the severity of the injury the player injured will be removed and replaced. The match is restarted with all players roughly in the same locations with the injured player's replacement taking up the position last held by the injured player. The flag's location is changed to ensure no one discovers it during the time out, nor is it moved near any of the players locations so they don't happen across it right away when the match begins. Team with highest score after four fifteen minute quarters wins.

This would be a full contact sport so tackling is allowed. Severe roughness though is not. Using the laser rifle as a club is not allowed. Using a non-standard rifle is illegal to include style, appearance (except team logos and colors), tamering, power boosting, sabotage. No camping an opposing team's player to keep zapping them. You shoot, hit, and move on. No intentional kicking, punching, elbowing, kneeing. After three incidences the player must be removed from the match and replaced with a stand by. Getting into a fist fight is an automatic removal from the match. A player who only defends themself during such melee is given a time out and removed from the match for one quarter unless they had a direct part in causing the fight (ie: taunting, unsportsman like behavior). The lasers would stun the player for forty five seconds. There is even a countdown to show the time the player is out. During this stun period the boost pack would cease propelling them and they would stop flying so they don't crash into something and get injured any worse. After the forty five second period the pack would send a revival jolt to wake the player up if they haven't already done so. If they wake up before the forty five seconds they need to hold their position until the count down finishes. Special consideration is given to players with a higher 'kill' count.

Typical team 'uniforms' will consist of shoulder pads, forearm bracers, knee pads, boots, team jersey featuring name and number, gloves, the booster pack, rifle, and helmet. The helmet will have comm unit so team members can communicate to each other. Pants will be elastic to allow freedome of movement. Colors will vary from team to team and can be customized for various reasons and occasions. Team franchise can influence uniform style but it cannot give any more advantage to a player then the typical uniform (like having hidden stun plates, or blades, or kinetic force nullification fields, stealth and invisibility, etc)

Typical cheer leader uniforms will consist of a short skirt, bloomers or shorts, socks, shirt (T-shirt, tank top, or long sleeved), sneakers. Colors vary with team design and style. Cheerleader stunts will be also be done in zero-g fields outside of the actual playing field. Three minute performances will be done between quarters with a larger one of about ten minutes during the half time. Other shows will also occur varying on sponsorship.

The playing field will consist of a large contained field of a zero-g environment with a cylindrical shape. Approximate size will be 30 yards long, 20 yards wide, and fifty yards high. The field will be filled with various obstacles and objects of different shapes, colors, and sizes to create a challenging field to travel through. Obstacles must be rugged to endure abuse during matches but without sharp edges or points that may cause severe lacerations or gouging. Depending on location will determine the style and quality but all fields must be within sport regulations. Failsafe and backup systems must be in place to prevent failure of the zero-g field and to protect the players from any disaster. The sidelines of the field are a solid barrier so a player cannot go through it and fly off the field. The barrier also stops any stray shots that may occur during matches. There is no 'out of bounds' as players cannot cross through the barrier until the match is over. The barrier will be all encompassing around the sides, ceiling, and floor of the playing field.

Players must be healthy, have high amounts of endurance, strength, and mental alertness. All species with standard two arms, legs, one torso and head, are welcome to play. Species with extra limbs or different appendages need to have special considerations taken to not put them at too much of a disadvantage or advantage that it affects the game play. Currently recruitment consists of testing out those interested and meeting the physical requirements and then running them through the training exercises. (Perhaps later when the sport is more established the player draft can be instated like in modern day sports)

And that's about all I've got. The tech used is common, and rules are more or less covered. Did I miss anything?

A sci-fi sport? Neat. Gives me an idea that maybe we're sorely lacking information and content like this in the modern age (such as why we had the influx of martial arts stuff). Could be a good thing to maybe try and revamp/bring Chaos Blitz back? Or is it still around and I've just missed it?

This basically needs someone to be its champion and get the wiki articles made and maybe the occasional news post about the scores and such.
