Seeing these old articles makes it both somewhat saddening but enlightening. It might sound odd, but what I mean is that we've had so many breakthroughs where we thought "Oh man, this is it! We finally got it", but ultimately have only found cures/treatment methods for sparse/very specific forms of cancer. The enlightening thing, however, is just how big the strides are comparing both this thread's various links to more modern breakthroughs and research. So enlightenment might not be the right word... but it's close to describing how it feels. Can't truly feel good about it until we've got that rock-steady cure/method of treatment that's fail-proof.
