How much would a planet cost?

OK, in the game you have numerous worlds that for one reason or another can't be colonized for whatever reason, but have numerous other resources that can be tapped into that would have Corporations/Empires establish a presence on them. So my question is how much would it cost for a corporation to have exclusive rights to a planet and it's resources, since an Empire would basically be able to claim any world that wasn't already claimed?

It's just a matter of asking the government. In Yamatai, for instance, the government wants to expand so if your corporation seems legit and has a plan to set up a colony, they'll probably let you run the planet for free*.

*All corporations in Yamatai, however, are subject to government procurement plans, so some of the resources would be sent back to Yamatai to make Star Army ships, etc. Basically a light tax on whatever you're producing instead of a monetary tax.

Makes sense, I suppose, but would the government give them the resources to build the colony.. or would that come out of the corp's own pocket? If so, then how much would that cost?

Was this ever answered? How much would a company/government need to be worth to have the ability to do all this stuff?

How much would it cost to get the planet. Presumably free if you talk to Yamatai.
How much would Terraforming the planet cost if required?
How much would it cost to build a Colony on it to start working? This involves material costs and shipment costs, coupled with the building costs of the colony.
How much would it cost to get people to go to the colony world and set up a localized economy?

Because planets and colonies come in different sizes, the answer to this is always going to be "it depends" and would have to be answered in a case-by-case basis for a specific scenario and even then, it'd would be guesswork because SARP doesn't have hard numbers for everything the way a game like EVE does.
