Welcome Lucid Walkers, my apologies to awaken you within your dreams. You have however, been elected to participate in a new training program. Welcome to the Collective Consciousness Training Ground, an experimental exercise method of the Iron Moon Advancements. Let us start with introducing you to the environment...

Plot topic here

This is my first plot here and it will be a blast!
To get an idea of what will be going on, try imagining mixing Inception, Portal, the Matrix, Escher, Rainbow Six: Vegas and Prey, and you'll have a lot of elements that make up 'the Lucid Walkers Project'. Expect a crazy mixture of over the top action and mind warping situations!

In our dreams, everything is possible.
however, in a shared consciousness, twisting the fabric the realm will have consequences for both you and the other users. Don't let this shared dream, turn into a nightmare!

To overcome the challenges, solve the puzzles, defeat the badguys and take down the main target you will have to think outside of the box, use every element in your advantage, perhaps even be a little crazy! But don't overdo it, the stranger you make things, the stranger, and potentially more dangerous the world you operate in becomes!

Detailed roleplaying and hints of absurdism are strongly rewarded and will lead to succes!

Be creative,
Work together,
Listen to Control,
Complete the objective!

This is an SP plot and it is prefered that players can post around every 3 days. I will try to keep the pace up high to allow for quick progression and explosive fun!

If you have questions, you can reach me per PM, IRC on which I am practically daily and ofcourse through this thread!

The System: Users Guide
Taking actions:
Actions can be taken just like they would be in real life, picking a lock, decyphering code, hacking into a computersystem, throwing a hard hitting punch, lining up and firing your rifle or carefully placing explosives for the wanted result.
The chance of succes depends on a few things, the difficulty of the undertaken action, whether or not the character is trained in or familiar with the related skill, and how the player has described and detailed how the action was undertaken.

Using items:
  • Eating food/drinking will calm down the character and restore some of their fitness.
  • Applying medikits or other healing items does not require being skilled in the Medical field but the results vary if applied by untrained people.
  • Firing guns can be attempted by anyone, though hitting the intended target and not something else entirely might get problematic if they character has never held a gun before.
  • Wearing PA's / Controlling Mechas requires experience or skill.
  • Simple vehicles can be driven by anyone, but more complex vehicles require specific experience or skill
  • Most things are self explanatory and can be used by all characters and however they want.

Bending:
Bending can be done at any place and time in any way the character would like to. It's ofcourse important for them to realise the possibilities and potential of bending. Bending can be used to drastically increase succesrates for actions, both temporarily and permanently, how the players and their characters go about this is entirely up to their creative potential, some examples and suggestions are given in the 'Skill usage examples' list. Bending will cause some instability, but less so when it could be more plausible that a character would have a skill related to how they are bending reality and normality.

For example, an Engineer is very able to craft and create new tools, eventhough it's unlikely that he could suddenly pull a jackhammer out of thin air, it's not unimaginable.

However, if a very demure, timid houselady would suddenly pull an RPG Launcher out of her backpocket, no one would ever deem this is possible, creating a higher disbelief in the stable reality, allowing a quicker increase in destabilisation.

Private Instability:
Increases when bending normality on a personal level, will also add to Group Instability in smaller amounts.

Group Instability:
Increases when things go weirdly or wrong or when users bend normality.

Heartrate:
Taking actions, basically, doing stuff intensively, will increase your heartrate a little.

  • Reaching ideal heartrate gives a succes bonus
  • Reaching critic heartrate gives an increased succes bonus but also
  • increases instability slightly.
  • Reaching max heartrate will eject the user instantly.

Reducing heartrate is possible through meditation, but the effenciency of this relies on the stability and the calmness around the character meditating.

Skill usage examples:

  • Art and Vocations:
You are naturally creative, very fit and stable for this environment.
  • Biology:
Grow a plant, Grow your hand.
  • Chemistry:
Toxins, they don't hurt no more! Maybe tweak your genes for some more cool abilities!
  • Communications:
Talking, is what you do best, calm your allies in times of stress and miscommunication, and learn the language of any thing!
  • Construction:
You're well familiar with making any construction rise from the ground.
  • Culinary:
Cooking! Who needs a kitchen, prepare food with your mind!
  • Demolitions:
You're well familiar with making any construction fall to the ground and creating the tools for it!
  • Domestic:
Ugh, even more dust, junk and rubble? you know what to do with it!
  • Engineering:
Creating small items and tools comes as a second nature to you.
  • Entertainment:
Your stories will charm anyone, and your cheers will empower allies!
  • Fighting:
As a kid you probably watched too many super kung-fu movies, or perhaps played too many fighting games, time to put your Down, Down-Right, Right, Punch to the test!
  • Humanities:
You understand that what happens, isn't real throughout your mind and body, you are able to see things in persective, you are stable within and for this environment.
  • Knowledge:
You know a lot, you even know things you couldn't, useful insights come to you automatically.
  • Leadership/Strategy:
You're a leader that can make a small army rise from the dust, or a tactician that can make a small squad rise to it's true potential.
  • Maintenance and Repair:
Tinkering on, and building these big machines is an old, easy trick for you.
  • Mathematics:
Plus, Minus, Gravitational constants, Linear decceleration, Algabra, you know it all, time to apply your own theory now!
  • Medical and Science:
Wounds? They're dealt with quickly. Missing an arm? Just replace it with a better one!
  • Physical:
Time to break that universal long jump record! Or maybe that sprint... perhaps that contortionists desire you've always had.
  • Rogue:
Blend into your environment and create the secret passage way everyone needed!
  • Starship Operations:
You know well how to navigate, and if you need laser sharp guidance, create it!
  • Survival and Military:
Defensive shelter you'll find it, heck you'll make it!
  • Technology Operation:
Need a digital pair of brains? Or maybe you just need to hack into anything and control it?
  • Vehicles:
    Pretty self explanatory right?

Now, get ready to walk through the door, take the leap of fate, or cannonball yourself through! See you on the flipside!

Re: Lucid Walkers - Bizarre Missions inside our Minds [open!

Arieg Hessel
Age: (Appears in his mid twenties)

Description: A freelance Nepleslian mercenary.

Likes: Cigars, large amounts of ammunition, search and destroy contracts.
Dislikes: Conservatives, 'soft' people, bureaucrats, special interest mindsets.
Fears/Phobias/Complexes: He has a very deep seeded fear of cats, he practically obsesses over details, noticing odd faults most others would ignore or pass over. He is also extremely orderly and precise.

Re: Lucid Walkers - Bizarre Missions inside our Minds [open!

Danny Hanley-Lewis
Age: 19

Description: Terminally Unlucky drifter who will never die as a result of his unluckiness.
Likes: Time to himself, Wandering about, The simple things in life (Food, Shelter, Security)
Dislikes: Bad Luck, Undue Persecution, Threats

Fears/Phobias/Complexes:
Major - "Fate has it in for me." - Danny believes that something out there is responsible for his unluckiness, and its always pulling his strings. Always.
Medium - "I am an untangleable slinky." - Danny is stupidly flexible, and he seems to be able to withstand superhuman amounts of punishment when his bad luck kicks in.
Minor - "NO NO, DON'T [X] MY [Y], I NEED THAT TO [Z]!" - Danny does not like being touched or restrained.

Re: Lucid Walkers - Bizarre Missions inside our Minds [open!

Tweak Three-Seven
Age: Literally unknown. Appears to be in her late teens, early twenties.

Description: An obsolete nekovalkyrie with daily memory issues, heavy problem-solving tendencies, and engineering ability. Details in StarWiki article (linked above). In dreams, she will have no memories and will be working with her innate personality tendencies only, with no extra information or directives.

Likes: Classical and techno music, obscure gadgets and useless stuff, trying to make something work and pushing technology beyond its limit, books (although she never remembers what she read), how things work (not limited to just machines), dancing, throwing things.

Dislikes: Large groups and being the center of attention, good or bad (moderate phobias apart, major when combined. Able to deal with one or other, not both. Beware both!) Quitting/quitters (pet peeve; acceptable but irritating...and retreating isn't quitting, it's biding time) Personal insecurity (mild complex; sometimes unsure about her work, and wants a friend despite reclusive tendencies...in a dream, may try 'creating' one, with mixed results) Dissociative tendencies (a mild...issue...being a neko, the warrior tends to be apart from the rest of her for effectiveness, part due to physical brain traits and computerized portions of her mind...could be exaggerated in dreams).

Player's note:
Involving Tweak in this plot will be an interesting experiment on several levels. Because she is dreaming, Tweak won't have access to her usual means of information-processing, her internal Tactical Operating System. She also won't have any of the advantages being a neko usually brings her, but she'll also not have the disadvantages, so this will essentially be a pure thought-based experience for her...that she won't remember when she wakes up. Even so, using her intellect to solve a problem is what she loves to do and a good portion of why I made her. Despite the canon problems with accessing neko brains, since it's non-canon I want to give it a go, if you are alright with it : )

Re: Lucid Walkers - Bizarre Missions inside our Minds [open!

Sounds just fine MissingNo, though she will need some form of appearance, I'll leave this up to you to describe when she enters the Collective Consciousness, but something physical would be prefered. Regarding problem solving qualities, just be creative as hell. There is going to be quite some combat as well as a bunch of puzzle like traps.

Though... because of her lack of memory, will she be able to use the skills she has?
She already has less then 8 skills and skills give bonuses you will want to have.

Otherwise, she's completely welcome, and if she doesn't have any skills in her dreamstate, I'll give her an allround bonus!

Lemme know! Greets, Soda

@Gabriel,
The topic doesn't seem to have a character profile on its own.
I would like to know their species, and most importantly, is Venicius compatable with SARP.
This plot may be non-canon, but I will be assuming everyone comes from the SARP realm and therefor fits within the SARPiverse.

I think I may not have been clear enough about this in the first post though, so my apologies that.

What else is that you've given him a skill called 'Firearms', I've built the game system around the skills that are catagorized like on the wiki. In which case using firearms would fit under Fighting.

If you still want to apply Venicus as a character, consider making him SARP compatable!
Giving him a species, familiarity with SARP tech and standardized SARP skills.

@Lam,
Same goes for you, and me.
I think I may have misscomunicated that this event IS occuring within the SARPiverse and as a result, requires SARP compatibility.
So standard skills would be quite pleasant, as well as a SARP species.

I will adjust the main post, I hope I haven't confused you guys too much through it!

Re: Lucid Walkers - Bizarre Missions inside our Minds [open!

I have edited my post. I hope that will suffice.

Re: Lucid Walkers - Bizarre Missions inside our Minds [open!

Give the new profile a try and tell me what's missind, Sodapop.

Re: Lucid Walkers - Bizarre Missions inside our Minds [open!

Alright! Looks good Gabriel and Lam.
I'm just waiting for a PM reply from MissingNo, then we are good to go!
You will all hear from me when things are blasting off! I'll be posting a bunch of tips here regarding bending reality.

Greets, Soda

Alright!

We're all set now!
I'll be working out some final details before we start.
This topic is now the OOC topic and I'll open up another for the actual play! You'll all get first posting instructions soon! (as in, Tomorrow), from there on we can kick off!

I'll be posting some tips here regarding the application of skill usage, as well as tips for creative reality bending!

Greets, Soda

It may be worth mentioning that I'm assuming typical dream behavior here-- in that our appearances are our character's own subconscious representation of themselves. In that case, Albert appears exactly as he is because his self-esteem has nothing to do with his appearance while his scientific mind forces him to accept that his does in fact possess a body and it looks exactly the same until modified in some way by age or wear. Ergo, he has no desire to look any different nor any suspicion that he can.

By god, guys you're picking this up perfectly!
Much love! I just need Arieg to post as well, then I'll get ELENA to intervene and things can get roling!

He shrugged and looked at the others - five others in total.
Luca: In your last post you mention Danny seeing five others. There were only three visible; Tweak has no image yet and Arieg hadn't yet arrived until the post after yours.

Everyone: To understand Tweak's current point-of-view, think of the camera in a third-person video game or the theater mode camera in Modern Warfare or Halo: Reach. The camera is invisible, and has free motion. Add to that the ability to change scale: She can zoom in to see things as small as she can imagine, or zoom out as large (...heh, ideas for recursive zooming) and she can go anywhere due to not having any collision detection (to use a game-programmer's term). She will have a physical form in a bit, once she learns what one is.

Regarding sequence and consistancy. It is a dream and time is an odd variable there. However it is up to you to change it or not. Things will get rather weird later on and keeping consistant with every possible previous post is going to be hard, I'll be guiding that as much as possible, but consistancy mistakes are tolerated.

Greets, Soda

You guys are doing great by the way <3

ELENA is going to kick Doctor Weiss out of his own dreams at this rate.
