[NMX] - Hand of Fear

I do not see how the shields being altered induces stealth. Can you please elaborate? (Pros, Cons of doing it thusly?)

How fast does it go, STL, or FTL? They are not even listed.

What form of shields?

Does the armor assist in stealth? If so, how, and what material is used?

Size, dimensions? If it is small, you have no way of carrying "rock" of such weight, or in sufficient quantities.

What provides power?

The NMX gave it the name because when seen from above it resembles the three finger hand of the Nekovalkyrja.
Why name it after the Nekovalkyrja? They're enemies, while some are sleeper agents, I would imagine such a thing would be 'beneath' them.

Range of the ship?

How often does it need to refit?

How does it harvest material?

How can it remain stealthily in orbit without giving itself away?

I see an engine glow, what form does it use?

Is there a different method during silent running?

How much "rock" or ammo can it carry?

Are there any battle pods on board?

Range of the weapons?

Rate of Fire?

Description of how the weapons work? Why they use them? (It would have to have a ferro-metallic core, or veins running through the rock to be viable wouldn't it?)

Basically, where is the rest of the template? It is missing a large number of detail.

Soresu,

It follows the template all the NMX vessels have.

As for the shields being used for stealth. This feature is already cannon, from the Plumeria ship.

The Plumeria S3 has an excellent Combined Field System. Plumeria can generate an Anti-FTL Field with a 2.5 au radius. The Plumeria's CFS field generators are designed to mask the ship's movement and minimize the ship's effect on surrounding space. A “silent running” mode is also available, similar to the one first used on the Yuuko-class Gunboat.

The naming of the class of ship was irony on the part of the NMX. Since the ship resembles the hand of their enemy, Hand of Fear seemed appropriate.

For the record the ship is fairly large, but most of the space is dedicated to the mass drivers, and the ore processing equipment.

No there are no battle pods, if it had them they would be listed.

The Hand of Fear is size wise in the cruiser class, but because the ship is not intended to directly engage enemy vessels it has very low armor. Added a note to clarify this fact.

Also added ROF and Payload data.

Also added Wikipedia link to explain what a mass driver is.

As for why us them. Throwing a large chunk of material (rock) at high speed is a very simple system. Once launced the projectile has no guidance system for countermeasures to be used against. Firing at it depending on the method only increases the problem, because you create multiple projectiles still travelling at high speed. And they are small and therefor not easily detected.

Example:
From Wikipedia The sixth largest meteor to hit the earth was
10 feet (3.05 m) tall by 6.5 feet (1.98 m) wide by 4.25 feet (1.3 m) deep and weighed 15.5 tons

That's because no one has bothered to detail them yet beyond name, how many of what weapons, and the DR with a few pictures thrown in for color eventually I am sure this will be filled in to provide a reader and hopefully future users something more to go on. Providing some detail is good since if someone uses this, a majority of questions won't have to be asked on a continuous basis in regards to basic systems, and the like to include in posts ICly should it ever come up and cuts down on possible annoyance at the repeated questions :) .

Or, construe it is totally OP with unlimited speed, range for its weapons and the like. That is why some detail on critical systems would be nice, and a basic outline. I'm not asking for full blown fully descriptive detail down to the color of the paint. Just things that would be really useful to know for someone to utilize it ICly.

This isn't a Plumeria however. Or a YSE vessel. I would also like to note, depending on your mode of stealth, your vessel will be completely open to fire, no defense beyond the hull (That is the drawback of CFS stealth. As well as you having to peek out of your little bubble to see, since sensors would be terrible.). Or, your type of power could be detected. Let alone engines. You won't be stealthy utilizing Gravimetric Drives I would imagine, and with no drive systems listed, it makes it incredibly hard for a possible user to determine what they got to work with in any situation beyond stealth.

The Hand of Fear uses mass drivers to allow it to fire and forget on its targets. Attacking a planet or space structure by hurling 10 or 25 tons of rock at high velocity, pin point accuracy is not really necessary.

Fire or Forget (fof weapons) also known as "Lock On After Launch" (LOAL - which is harder to say in combat) are weapons which guide to targets without assistance.

What you have here is a surface bombardment weapon.

Otherwise, good submission, if not a bit sparse.
I hope you never deploy one of these without support of some sort.

I think what Nashoba's trying to get at is that the point of this ship isn't to do gratuitous amounts of damage, just to invoke fear. One real life example of a fear-based weapon could be the German Stooka dive-bombers in WWII. The Stooka had a horn attached that the pilots would wail when they were attacking their target. There was no point to the horn other than to invoke massive amounts of fear into their enemies and set them into a state of panic so that way when the actual attack began the enemy would be in mass chaos and confusion and therefor less likely to be able to defend themselves.
