Should there be a "Petty Skills" List?

This occurred to me the other night while I was having a study break:

Should players be obliged to write down skills which don't quite define their character or serve any major relevance to plots, but are interesting to know anyway?

Just simple things or odd tidbits they know about and can talk about if they want, such as Civilian Computing, Mycology, Tabletop Gaming or anything else?

Those should be included in the skill area descriptions, under their regular list of 7+ skill areas. Computing would be under Technology, etc.

So, yes, they should be listed.

Note that in Star Army:

1) The seven starting skill areas are skill areas, not skills (which should be listed in the area's description).

2) You can have as many skill areas as you like, so long as you roleplay adding more (training posts, etc).

So I believe this was asking in regards to the "Underwater Basket Weaving" which lets face it would have no serious benefit to the RP other than Did you know I can make baskets underwater?"

What skill area would underwater basket weaving even go under?

It goes under 'Art and Vocations'. I'd be concerned to see it submitted, unless it was on an Azorean character.

A skill shouldn't go in a different category, or be considered less important to a character, simply because it doesn't look very useful to the RP. It's how important it is to the character that matters; both their level of interest, and how outstanding their ability in that area is relative to others.
