Tamahagane Ta-W1-4a - Katana (Power Armor)

I believe I once heard Wes discourage the use of Yamataiaum for anything else other than heavy structures because the metal was relatively hard to intricately work with - that would include weapons such as the Katana there.

That 'flaw' seemed mostly corrected by the Yamataiaum-Durandium (popularily called 'Yamadura'). It would be my suggestion that you use that material instead.

Also, bear in mind that the weapon's mono-molecular edge is not going to hold. After the first couple of strikes it will have been worn down, meaning that you probably only can have monomolecular-edge quality on the weapon's very first use after creation. Even the regenerative properties of Yamataium probably don't make up for it (whatever is 'healed' will end up being rounded out).

The only material that can really hold a mono-molecular edge would be zesuaium.

I have a bit of experience here.

Nash, instead of making it monomolecular, make it a Vibrosword or a Heatsword. Those always work, and last longer.

Thing is there is already a Tamahagane Sword Ta-W1-3a - Katana that has that same combination of metal and is a Monomolecular Edge.
So the precedent was set, this is just a larger heavier blade for use by PA.

As for using your suggested material Fred, I find myself unwilling to use a material that there is no wiki page available to provide an accurate description of its properties.

Yama-dura is an alloy of Yamataium and Durandium. Yamatai uses it on everything.

Basically, Yama-Dura is Yamataiam-laced Durandium, which is lighter than Yamataiaum, somewhat more hard and brittle, but still has regenerative qualities.

Okay, since we have taken a brief tangent.

I created this page to address the lack of information on Yama-Dura using Kai's input.

So the question now is there anything else about this material that needs to be added to the wiki page. Once we have the material okay, I'm fine with changing the sword to using it.

Yama-Dura

I tweaked the Yamadura page a bit and it's good to go now. I also added it to the list of starship armors.

Uso: Good call on the image. It really brings like to the article.

Brian: It looks great. Better than my swords I've DOGAed so far.

Yeah, took out my katana to get reference, now I can add the image to the other katana pages or mix up the colors for the handles. haven't decided.
