Approved Submission Star Army Pilot Suit, Type 45

This suggestion has been implemented. Votes are no longer accepted.
this one not getting the ol dataweave and omnihue treatment?

dataweave is good for things like biometrics, haptics, etc, environmental regulation. Hydration tube?

And what about Yugumo computers? those are the secondary after the kessaku in the mozu and such

Does the helmet's visor raise/retract and allow the pilot to open the helmet's face? Or does the wearer have to take the whole helmet off to breathe atmosphere because a one-piece helmet is necessary for its life support functions? Not a pressing question, just wondering for descriptive reasons.

Great to see all the new bits of KFY tech lately. This uniform looks slick.

I'll nail that stuff down in the pass I'm doing on it. Anything else you can think of?

This is kinda already implied by 'all pilots across [Star Army]' but variants for the non-humanoid shaped races.

I think it should link to the aerospace flight suit if it is replacing it. Historically replaced items get linked on the new pages and that's always been useful to me as I research equipment.

I will also put that in my pass

Thank you for your suggestion! I've added a link to the Aerospace Flight Suit on the Star Army Pilot Suit, Type 45 page.

I admit, I'm not really fond of replacing stuff that has non-AI art with technology that uses generated art. Is there some way we could at least keep the Type 32 in service, at least until this gets a more coherent depiction from a real artist?

I think the new art I made, using Midjourney and then editing it, is great looking and serves the purpose well. It's not just a placeholder. I hope we can use it an a reference for various commissions in the near future. In the meantime I don't see that as a reason to hold up its in-character or out-of-character usage. I'm also definitely not going to set a precedent where making my own art for my site using AI software already I pay for somehow commits me to spending even more money on human-made art.

I've been using AI generated art I made on the site for over 4 years now and it's weird how only in the last 6 months suddenly some people think it's a problem. But I am having a blast generating art for the site and you can expect these to artworks keep coming, primarily for "stuff" in the Star Army universe (as opposed to characters, who need typically custom human made art to get right). What I can do is look for a pilot character who could use new or updated art and see if I can find an artist to put them in the new pilot suit. If that's not enough, I don't know what to tell you. I've contacted GMGhost, an artist who did art for us for the Type 42 Duty Uniform, to check availability and prices.

I didn’t mean to imply that we should keep the Type 45 out of service or hold off on adopting it. I was just hoping to keep the Type 32 in service until some kind of non-AI art for the Type 45 came in, mainly since there was talk of replacing the Type 32. I probably should have stated that explicitly, but it slipped my mind and frankly I didn’t think my post would generate such a strong reaction.

GMGhost does great work. I have numerous art from GMGhost for some SARP ideas.

I apologize if I came across as hostile in my previous response. Thank you for clarifying your concerns. I just like the new suit design better than the old one. Nevertheless. the Type 32 is an established part of the Star Army universe and has been in use for many years. As such, it's understandable that some people would prefer to see it stick around for a while longer and I am open to having a transitional period where both suits are in use. Let me know if you got any additional concerns, okay?

If there is still a plan to buy art for the Type 45, for pilot characters, I'd recommend Zanven Brax since the character has been written for a while and his writer is super active.

This plan works for me. Thanks Wes!

I'm a get on this. I have a couple other things on my plate too and finally their numbers are coming up. One of them conveniently solves the RP thread of the suit, heh.
