11th Squadron Episode 1: Fire

Re: Episode 1: Fire

With no communications from the senior officers, Ryosuke decided to use the time to brief his small crew on the upcoming mission. After the correct coordinates were inputted and verified he grabbed a datapad with Erytheia's updated inventory and retired to his cabin to finish off some work leaving instructions to inform him of any incoming communications.

Entering his cabin, he spots the package Shaif had dropped off. Picking it up he stores it safely in his cabinet before putting on some music and sitting down at his desk. Bringing up the screen he decided to review the inventory on the larger screen rather than the datapad.

A few minutes passed as he perused the information before hearing his door chime. He replied "Come in," before looking up and seeing his First Officer enter, making her way over to his desk.

Smiling as she entered the room he asked, "Is everything ready for departure Saki-san?".

Bowing as she came to a halt in front of his desk she replied, "Ready for departure Taii. She is ready for whatever may get thrown at us out there."

Nodding his head, Ryosuke responds, "That is good to hear. Any other news I may have missed?".

Thinking for a second, Saki says, "Nothing I know about Taii. If I may, how long do you think the Taisho is going to be before boarding one of the squadron's ships?".

Looking at the time on his terminal, he chuckled and said, "I'm sure the Taisho and her Chusa should be finishing their inspections anytime now."

Frowning and unsure about why he was chuckling, Saki decided to be more informal, "Why were you chuckling Takahashi-san?".

Debating on the merits of informing her or not, he gave in and briefly recounted what went on during the briefing finishing off with, "...I really hope she decides to travel aboard another ship in the squadron. I don't want them testing out any of the Erytheia's closets or cupboards."

Amused at what she had just heard, Saki asked, "Permission to return to the bridge Taii?".

Replying an affirmitive, he watched as she bowed again before executing a crisp about turn and exiting his cabin. Sighing to himself, he returned to his work hoping they would be departing soon.

The commander of the Asterope sat for a while where longer; Izuki was seemingly reviewing information over her data-pad, looking particularity business like. Her second-in-charge went to stand up soon after the group was dismissed, but seemed to quickly change her mind.

"Remain seated." Izuki's encrypted telepathic voice sharply entered the Neko's mind, that of course was when she complied and sat back down so quickly. The Chui was curious as of why her Captain wanted to linger longer when they were already given permission to leave, but she did exactly as she was told and stayed in her seat-- silently wondering what was going through the Kameko starship commander's head.

The last group then made their exit, and the black haired officer then placed her data-pad down on the counter top. "You may now ask," she said simply as she folded her hands on her lap. Being someone attuned to her surroundings and a student of the predictability of human-like minds, it wasn't hard to know that the Chui was unsure of the method behind the Kameko madness.

The Neko looked back at the door that everyone had exited from to make sure they were alone, and then sat back in her seat with an eyebrow raised at her CO. "Alright, why did we stay when everyone else made their leave," she asked straightforward still in curious puzzlement in Izuki's actions.

"Observations-- getting to know people isn't about pointless questions and simple small talk. A person tells more about themselves in their actions, habits and gestures. It's also easier to read someone when you’re not actually partaking in their conversation," Izuki explained as she gazed down at her datapad, the device had all of the commanders' profiles called up on the display.

The first officer nodded slowly. "Ah I see, so what are your conclusions ma'am?" Kimi asked, now more interested in how deep the commander could read their comrades. Mostly because Kimi didn't even bother paying attention to any of the others, besides the obvious, like conversations and Kyosuke's disheveledness.

"Not good ones," the Kameko officer said, "but I'll tell you more once we're on the bridge." Kimi didn't like having to wait, but with that the two stood up and finally made their way out of the meeting room, then through the halls of the space station with their heeled footwear clicking in sync against the solid metal floor which stayed like that all the way to the ship. The two boarded the Plumeria-class Light Gunship and the vessel began it's preparations for leaving the station.

Re: Episode 1: Fire

Seth Larai finished his candy in an almost clinical manner, if that could be said of eating candy; He made sure that each side was taken proper advantage of, and when the block of flavored sugar became small enough, he quickly chewed the remains so that his entire mouth was filled with little bits of flavor that would melt as time went on. The Taii rose from his seat, and walked towards the bridge, where his Yamataian second in command, a fairly nondescript woman by the name of Rhiannon Bell, sat, monitoring the Aegle's functions for the time being. Noticing her captain on deck, Rhiannon quickly bowed before returning to her work. Larai Taii said, nothing, as nothing needed be said, all was well.

Next, Seth made his way down to engineering, to check on how his machine was running. The energetic Neko, Faleen Taran was easy enough to spot, she was tinkering with some wiring inside of a panel. Upon hearing the footsteps on her floor, however, she jumped to, turning about and giving her captain a bow. "It's all Ship-shape, Taii" She reported with a smile "Except a few wires here, I think we got a bad batch, so I've gone ahead and started replacing them." She bowed again and quickly got back to work, seeing as she enjoyed it and she knew the Taii enjoyed it when his crew was working hard. "Good job, Heisho" The man replied succinctly, before retreating.

He continued around the ship, checking everything. It was all spotless, the ship was practically brand new, having been completed maybe a few weeks prior, if that. All in all, the Taii was proud of his new command.

Day twenty-six, tenth month, thirtieth year of the Empire…

After some time, the Taisho came aboard the Aegle with Lang-chusa, having decided to travel on that particular vessel in the squadron. In short order, she gave the order for the Eleventh to depart before retreating to the captain’s ready room to wait out the trip and stay out of the crew’s way. She would spend the remainder of the voyage there, working on a datapad, doubtlessly sorting personnel, equipment, and logistics requests for the newly-founded fleet that she’d been given command over.

The unit of four ships made its way to Sbuhfaba quickly, first past the Midori and Kosuka Nebulae, through Plumeria’s Gap, and out of the Samurai Sector defense zone. In total, the sojourn took only two hours at the speed outlined in their mission parameters. In-system, the Eleventh was given docking priority and slipped past the long lines of incoming fright and outgoing military vessels destined for service in the fleet. The formerly-Mishhutharvyar shipyards expanded in all directions around them with heavy construction to convert the station could still be seen taking place on the vast majority of its structure.

Hokusai quickly deposited herself from the Aegle after it docked, and once she was safely aboard construction facility’s administration module with Lang-chusa in tow, the Eleventh Squadron was given permission to leave, their orders directing them to return to their unit’s Ikoi starbase in the Ketsurui Military Sector. Just as the Taisho had promised, their mission proved to be short, and the Eleventh was soon on its way back home.

Day twelve, twelfth month, thirtieth year of the Empire…

On the previous day, the Ninth Fleet had received its permanent duty station at Tami—a direct order from the Mistress Taisho Yui herself. With the simultaneous downsizing of the Yamataian military and the creation of several new fleets, the Ninth would have to make due with a single, small administrative compound on the planet’s surface as their only noticeable addition to the system, Hokusai’s way of keeping inorganic intrusion off of the forest world. The ships of the fleet would simply moor themselves in orbit around Tami, forgoing the importation of a star fortress, at least for now. It was a busy time for the fledgling fleet, and amongst the myriad of communications coming and going from its ships and headquarters were four communiqués thanking the captains of the First Expeditionary Fleet’s Eleventh Squadron for their service to the Ninth.
