For the nanite one, what constitutes a "synthetic" material?
 
Any time of material that is man-made in their database. Plastics, alloys, and composites. Natural and organic materials are left alone.
 
You can't fit a database in a nanite. Nanites are molecules.

Nanite grenades NOT APPROVED

All other grenades APPROVED.
