SCENE: Anisa, YSS Celia

After the trio's shopping excursion out to the star fortress, Ryoko had returned to her quarters to put the things she'd gotten away before she would decide to go out and about. She hadn't had a full tour of the ship itself and was heading out to do just that, and more or less began to idly wander for a bit, just poking into rooms she'd be allowed in and kind of just passing time for now.

Ryoko's quarters were situated near those of the bridge officers. It was a particularly quiet section of the ship, not nearly as rowdy as the quarters for the redshirts.

"This place is nice and quiet..." She smiled as she went out onto the bridge to find out just what was going on to be careful and have an update.

It appeared that Taisho Chen was still away, escorting a certain Separa emissary around Yamatai. Chusa Megami Celia sat on the captain's chair, overseeing what little ship operations there were while the Celia was docked with the Star Fortress. There was a comm. officer on duty as well. The bridge was otherwise empty.

"Celia, where are Yuri and Sakai?" Ryoko asked the computer curiously; it'd been a bit quiet since they had returned to the ship.

"Hayasaka-Shosa is in the recreational room. She is off-duty, of course. Sasaki-Shosa is on-duty in the engineering sector. She is performing diagnostics on my engines, I believe," Celia replied.

"Thank you Celia," Ryoko said politely, though it was a little odd, the name of the ship wasn't really a Japanese one like the rest of the ships in the fleet were. She had been curious for a while about it and thought it might be time to ask someone about it. With a moment of pause she walked on to the rec room and looked inside for Yuri.

The Celia had a lot of non-Neko crewmembers, and her rec room reflected their tastes. While rec rooms on ships with heavily Neko crews were depositories for intellectual diversions, the Celia's rec room was a veritable gym. There were pieces of gym equipment, a large sparring mat, and even a small swimming pool off to the side.

Yuri was sitting on a bench, lifting dumb-bells. She noticed Ryoko as she walked in, and nodded to her.

"So this is what you do on your off time huh Hayasaka-Shosa?" Ryoko asked, walking over to her. "I'd ask if you need a hand but it looks like you've got it under control." Ryoko said and sat down next to her on the balls of her feet. "Hey, this ship has a bit of an odd name, do you know how it got it?"

Yuri appeared to be keeping count under her breath. She stopped counting to answer Ryoko, but her arms continued to lift the dumb-bells. "I wasn't around when she was named, but I believe this ship's first captain named her after his mother."

Ryoko blinked some. "That's really nice actually. Wonder who would name a ship after their mother...I don't think I've heard of anyone else doing that."

Yuri stopped lifting weights, and moved on to the leg press machine. "Taisho Kai Ashigari. He captained the Seigi before this ship. He was a brave man."

"Brave?" Ryoko asked. "Why?" she asked, watching Yuri move to the other machine and going with her and sitting down on the weight lifting bench. "I heard that name a long time ago but I can't remember the details."

"He rescued a girl from a mad scientist, who was using her for experiments," said Yuri, pressing down with her legs to raise about two dozen large metal slabs. "The mad scientist sent an assassin after him for his trouble."

"I see, that sucks." Ryoko asked and smiled at her. "He sounds like the type of guy the ladies would like."

Yuri shrugged. The metal slabs went up and down. "He might be thinking with his balls rather than his heart for all I know, but that does not change the fact that he was brave."

"Well you never know," Ryoko said. "Perhaps we could run a search through the personnel files," she suggested. "I'm sure it is still there."

"His records are sealed. I don't know why though," replied Yuri, continuing her exercise. "I remember hearing that he was brought back, but he completely vanished about a year ago. No purchases. No bank transactions. No record of him being discharged from the Star Army. Nothing. Pubic access to his records was revoked around that time too."

"Hmm I suppose that means that he did something to anger some of the higher powers." Ryoko said. "it is a shame really," she said with a sigh. "Perhaps one day they'll be unsealed, I don't see how the records of someone could be harmful especially if they're as good as he's reputed to be." Ryoko said, thinking some.

"I'd like to think he's in deep cover somewhere, as a sleeper agent. He has had associations with SAINT in the past," said Yuri. She sighed. "But you're probably right. He probably pissed off the wrong person."

"it is a real shame but I suppose there's not a point in sulking over the past. But I'd have liked to meet him at least once." Ryoko said. "Perhaps there's something left of him in this ship somewhere? I mean first captains DO make an impression I think."

"I came aboard after he was gone. So I wouldn't know, I'm afraid," replied Yuri. She was now doing one-armed push-ups on the gym floor. "Ask Celia."

Ryoko nodded. "Hmm… Celia... are there any items or clues left on this ship from the first captain?" She asked

"Stand by," said Celia, her voice floating down from the ceiling. After a few seconds, she replied, "His records are sealed. I cannot access them. Chen-Taisho now occupies Ashigari-Taisho's former office and quarters. You should ask Chen-Taisho when he comes back. If Ashigari-Taisho left any personal items behind, Chen-Taisho will know."

Ryoko nodded. "That'll be good." She said and looks over at Yuri. "Guess we'll find out when the Taisho comes back. So, did you get any of that interrogation equipment you were looking over before?"

"No," replied Yuri. "You made me nervous, yelling nonsense about how I was into bondage." Yuri shook an accusing finger at Ryoko.

"I was just joking with you." Ryoko said with a holographic halo forming over her head giving Yuri a cute look of innocence. "Promise I won't do it next time."

Yuri smiled. "Be sure that you don't. I won't be so lenient next time." Holographic devil horns grew out of her head.

"I wouldn't expect anything less honestly." Ryoko laughed, the halo fading. "Last thing I want is for you to start using those on me."

"Well, SAINT isn't all about whips and daggers and black power armors in the night, you know?" said Yuri. "Do you know why I brought you onboard the Celia, Ryoko?"

She shook her head for a moment. That had puzzled her since she got here; she knew she wasn't too qualified for SAINT positions. "Um honestly... not really. I just enlisted, went through training and ended up here."

Yuri finished her push-ups, got up from the floor, and sat back down on the bench, next to Ryoko. "I've read your file. I know about your former... occupation," she said in a serious tone. "People already relax around you, that's why you've been so good for morale. Relaxed people are much more likely to let secrets slip, really speak their minds, and generally show their true character. I will prove to my superiors in SAINT that people with your skills are invaluable to our enterprise."

She giggled some. "Well that sounds like a lot of responsibility too," she said. "it is very clever of you." She grinned a bit. "Well hey the furthest I go is lap-dances anyway."

"Don't worry, I know that. I read your file, remember?" said Yuri. She laughed. It was a good-natured laugh, but Yuri could feel the pain and cynicism underneath it. "I believe I will take a nap. See you later, Ryoko."

"Good night Yuri." She smiled at her and gave Yuri a friendly hug.

Yuri slipped her arms around Ryoko and gave her a reluctant squeeze. Semi-retired SAINT agents weren't big on hugs. "Yeah. Good night."
