Arieg's Standardized Setting Templates

Arieg

DEFCON Everybody Dies
As the name suggests and as my previous obsessions and postings in this forums have indicated I've been going a bit bonkers over the myriad of forms and conditions the wiki has for the showing of our lovely setting. To put things into perspective a good chunk (more then 3/4ths) is sparse or non-existent and for the most part follows little rhythm or reason to its organization. So... I've been hard at work at making a standard for setting articles and after building the most indepth and detailed one I came to a conclusion, not everyone would be willing to put as much effort into their setting elements as myself or some others who employ the same level of work. With that conclusion I made additional templates, simple ones based off of the complex ones that can be expanded on when needed or wanted. So... here are my results.

  • Settlement/Station Template - The settlement template to me is the most basic setting element we have, it can be anything from a few buildings on the surface of a brand new untamed colony world, a hodge-podge of small space station sections serving as some odd trading post in a distance solar system, or the sprawling city of Kyoto on Yamatai. This template hopefully will make the experience of making one easy and plug in play.
  • Simple Planet Template - Next in line is the planet the above calls home (if its on or orbit said world!), this particular template represents the bare minimum for information I could think of for a planet and to me should be whats mandatory for one to pass submission in the NTSE. It answers the basic questions and compares mostly to earth enabling an RPer or GM using it for his or her plot to quickly picture it's environment.
  • Complex Planet Template - This is the more complex of the two planet templates, taking into account more accurate and in depth information. While population numbers one could come with on your own I heavily advise using the Stargen system generator for the hard numbers on the planetary information. To those who are willing to go this extra mile I believe should be rewarded.
  • Simple System Template - Like the planet templates above I've done the same for the system templates, one simple one complex, however.... unlike the planet templates I heavily advise using the Star Gen generator I linked above for the sake of ease of use. Again I'm of the opinion that this template should represent the bare minimum for NTSE star system submissions.
  • Complex System Template - I am of the opinion that in order to fill this template out in any way shape or form the use of the StarGen is almost mandatory, out of all of these this one represents the most complex and in depth construction one could manage in describing a setting.

Alrightie, if everyone else is satisfied I'll post these to the NTSE before I leave for work today, anyone who missed out here can carry on over there with any input they feel is needed.
