Build and Skin Colour: Swimmer's figure; pale, milky skin.
Facial Features and Eye Colour: Warm, usually either smiling or stern face, always lacking makeup. Violet eyes.

Distinguishing Features:
Marina said:
"What's so funny about the way I dress? It's nothing I haven't read in books or seen in movies."
Though Marina has no outwardly apparant physical features; her style of dress is very eclectic. She tends to dress in a way that would not be out of place in the more 'primitive' places upon Yamatai, where rare species such as the Elves still make their stead. She wears a strange collar with a gemstone attatched, and many peculiar dresses. When she isn't in such dress or in her bathing suit (a white and blue twopiece), she usually will dress somewhat childishly.

Marina always wears two things, however, regardless of her outfit - her rank pin, and her collar. She keeps her reasons to herself.

Psychological Characteristics

Personality:

Marina said:
"What do you do, you ask? You do what you're here to do - your job."

Marina is young and eager - but not in the sense you might think. Her command style is such that she is quite willing to allow those officers who can do their jobs the best and the fastest more freedom than those who struggle with such tasks. Though she can be quite fearsome when she wants to be, she prefers to simply be firm, and bring out punishment when she needs be. She idolizes a retired veteran called 'Tiberius', and applies her philosophy whenever possible.

Marina said:
"Would you like one of these? They're very good."

Outside of her military life, Marina is far less secure - somewhat shy, in fact. Having lived away from much of the culture of the Nekovalkyrja, she is reserved, though friendly and polite. She puts her trust in relatively few people, but is easy to be friends with, so long as you treat her the right way.

Likes: Chocolate biscuit sticks, books, video games, music, swimming, water, storms
Dislikes: 'Easy' gesh females, ST backups, recklessness, guns, crowds, self-centeredness, flagrant disobedience
Goals: Command of a Sakura-class Gunship, meeting her idol Tiberius' approval, a measure of peace in a chaotic universe

History

Born in Neta, a costal city upon Geshrintall. Marina's family has had a history of military service stretching back 5 generations; the naturally peaceful Marina found it somewhat distateful, but could object little; she was an only child, and her parents were upon a tour of duty off-planet during much of her childhood, leaving her with a tutor they kept for her studies. She had relatively little friends growing up; and where many might have had a childhood full of excitement, she had little but her studies.

At a relatively young age Marina was sent to the Kyoto War college and soon became a communications officer in the Star Army's 5th Expeditionary Fleet. She was found to be a remarkably talented officer, if somewhat difficult to deal with, and found herself being quickly promoted up the ranks over her short tour of duty.

When the headquarters of the 5XF was destroyed, Marina was promoted to Taisa and transferred to the 1st Standard Fleet. Seeing in Marina a young, inexperienced officer with an artificially inflated rank, they nevertheless gave her a command - the Pisces Station over Albini, currently under construction.

Skills

Leadership (Command):
Marina said:
"You have your orders."
Marina's command experience is limited; however, working as a comm officer and studying writings by former commanders has given her confidence in her abilities. She is a stern commander, but is quite fair; she relies heavily on advice from fellow officers in the command structure, and is quite willing to take advice from even the lowliest of enlisted.

Knowledge (History, Law, General):
Marina said:
"History repeats itself, just as they say...but only because humans believe it repeats itself."
Marina knows quite well the history of the empire and its laws; not only did she learn them at Kyoto, but before, during her tutoring. She also knows a great deal of general knowledge, again, as a result of her tutoring.

Technology Operation (Advanced Computer Operation):
Marina said:
"I'd trust a computer with my life before I'd trust another sentient."
Marina works better with computers than she does with other people in a social setting. Having used all sorts of computers growing up, she is even more at home in the IES-saturated world of a Star Army soldier than the average officer.

Mathematics (Standard Training):
Marina said:
"We have IES, we have computer minds...I suppose, if you were stuck in a cave somewhere, you might want to add up some rocks."
Though Marina did undergo the standard mathematics training, she considered it a very large waste of time. Nevertheless, she knows the same math every other soldier does.

Fighting (Standard Training, Jeet Kune Do):
Marina said:
"Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water."
Despite being trained for operation of sidearms and powered armor, Marina has extremely limited combat experience, and no reported kills. Indeed, she actually finds combat somewhat distasteful; she would prefer to find diplomatic solutions. She isn't stupid, though - she knows that she is a soldier, and thus will kill without hesitation.

As for her martial training, Marina follows the philosophy of Jeet Kune Do - that is, she learns what she needs to learn. No more, no less. She desires simplicity and efficiency in her combat skills. She is quite willing to practice these skills against whoever might ask, and practices these skills as part of a relaxation process.

Physical (Swimming):
Marina said:
"Water is the most calm and relaxing element in the universe...until it rages against you and you drown within the storm."
Marina had basically two things to do when growing up - play video games, and swim. And swim she did; for her efforts, she swims at a professional caliber, able to go at high speeds and long distances without tiring. She makes sure to do so whenever she has time; since Pisces Station has several pools, including one in the crew-only section and a small one attatched to her quarters (on her request), she can often be seen there.

Art and Vocations (Singing):
Marina said:
"♪From the twilight I emerge...born anew in the sea...♪"
Marina loves music, of all kinds. When not on duty, she can often be seen wearing DAP headphones, singing along, and dancing for absolutely no reason at all. Those who have heard her voice have described it as 'hauntingly beautiful'.

Communications (Advanced Comm Operation, English, French, Japanese, Telepathy):
Marina said:
"Never forget your roots. You will always need what you have learned before."
Before her command, Marina worked as a comm officer in the 5th Expeditionary Fleet. As such, she is intimately familliar with communications protocols and can take over for her comm officer in a pinch. Marina speaks English and Japanese fluently, and speaks a somewhat accented French. Her manner of speech is soft, quiet, and formal.

Inventory

Funds: 3000 KS

Standard Issue Clothing + Equipment
The list of standard issue is here. There is no mission patch for the Pisces yet, so there is no mission patch on her uniform. Marina wears a 5XF Taisa rank pin and the skirt variant of the uniform, white panel.

Civilian Clothing
See 'Distinguishing Features'. Marina has relatively little clothing currently, however, with many outlets aboard Pisces, this can be expected to change very soon.

Type 29 Communicator
Marina has in her possession one of the new Type 29 communicators, and expects that all crew members carry one at all times.

Marina's Tablet
Marina's most prized possesion, by far, is her tablet. A 20-inch widescreen ultrathin model, Marina keeps books, videos, games, databases, coding projects, 'after hours' material, and many other things within the laptop's memory. It is linked to PANTHEON or its subordinates wirelessly whenever possible, allowing her to access the nodal network through it.

Marina's Headphones
Marina's second most prized possession. A compact behind-the-head design, they store an immense amount of digital music, are waterproof, and wirelessly connect to her laptop for syncing.

Chocolate Biscuit Sticks
Marina's favorite snack, which she usually keeps a stock of. It has no similarities whatsoever with a particular trademarked favorite of otaku.

OOC Notes

Before anyone asks, yes, I know there are 8 skills. I am justifying it for two reasons - one, this isn't exactly a 'normal' player character, and two, her skills are relatively low-key compared to, say, Elisa.

Anyway, this is the Pocky-eating, water-loving young captain of Pisces Station. Bio is largely incomplete; but this is because I want to do it right. This will include art. I think she'll be a good person to be around.

1st Revision: Several things added, bio is that much closer to completion. I'm going to be assembling reference pictures for art soon.

2nd Revision: Appearance mostly complete. The bio should be sufficiently complete for approval.

3rd Revision: Noticed I missed the inventory; I'll work on it later. Picture posted; though still technically a temporary, it should be sufficient.

Final Revision: Inventory complete in a 'just the basics' form. I doubt it will be expanded upon. Bio's already been approved, so...

I have an idea of her appearance but I'm lousy at describing them. I'm assembling references for art so that I can get a portrait or two before I write it in.

Also missing inventory, but that comes later.

Yes, but not yet. I still need to get a feel for her appearance; currenly scouring /c/ and other boards to find references.

I read over the entry and didn't find any problem to it. There's the thing about the parents... but this is a GM character anyways - FM can deal with that on his own. :-P

Approved.

Final version of the picture uploaded, much thanks to Leutre! He has informed me he will accept money or virgins in payment. ^_~

I also am rice pudding and souls of the damned, among other things.

The best thing about being the artist of other people's characters is that you can draw all the embarrassing or incriminating pictures you want of them, and blackmail yourself a nice fat bonus. Speaking of which, if you'll please excuse me...

*Goes off to draw a picture of Arisa and the crew of the NSS Alliance.*
