RP: DION Senate Bill Two

Heironymus took a few minutes to glance over the bill before giving a fast, unemotional response. "I do believe that this bill will not work simply because on Nepleslia, the number of guns outweighs the total number of citizens on the planet. So, my vote on this bill is no.â€

"It is unreasonable to vote against a bill simply because one thinks that one portion of the bill is something that can not be accomplished. If such thinking were prevalent in our society we would still be under the rule of Yamatai. I give you my personal assurance that tracking weapons on the planet is not a pipe dream. With this bill we can eventually disarm the gangs and start to forge a better society,â€

"While I am not altogether pleased with this proposition, I do believe that with the measure set in place to limit its power, the good it might be able to do will outway the disruption it may cause. If it does of course, we can simply disband the organisation, no harm, no foul." Alex said in an apologetic style, "As such I will vote yes for this Bill."

"I think that Nepleslia's social improvements have gone a long way to improve the condition of the average Nepleslian citizen little by little. Since our association with Emry's, we've had a tremendous increase in medical efficiency that puts us on par with the likes of Yamatai. The controlled distribution of drugs through Emry's vehicles have helped to make illegal distribution difficult as well. And, if I may add, do NOT forget the transit system that's been installed connecting Funky City to the rest of Nepleslia. Even now, preliminary measures are being arranged to have these improvements brought to the rest of the Empire. The people have embraced them with open arms. You think we've been ineffective just because we're taking small steps to a better future?"

Davis had just read the news report. Things were not turning well.

"The image we've carefully established, all the progress we've made so far, will be destroyed if you pass something that will threaten our citizens' sense of freedom. Do our citizens know they are living in a dangerous society? Yes. But, almost paradoxically, they will NEVER give up the right to have, without any restriction, the very items that probably CAUSE the most danger to their lives."

Davis' gaze almost bore a hole through his screen.

"THAT is the price of our identity-- the price of freedom. Don't let your ivory-tower judgements cloud your heritage. The people will not tolerate this blatant attack on their rights!"

"As the votes have been tallied, I find that the Senate of Nepleslia has passed this bill to go into effect immediately.â€
