Can Interdiction fields counter transposition weaponry?

Fred

Retired Staff
Since the new Xianthrafruglu gunship uses a Legacy Cannon as it's primary anti-fleet weapon (Legacy cannons being based on transposition), I was wondering if the Interdiction fields the Chiharu and Sakura-class could generate could help inhibit the weapon and protect the surrounding ships from the effects of transposition weaponry... since it's based very similarly to a fold system - or so I hear.

Yes, they could prevent proper operation of a transpostion fold ("Legacy") cannon, but not the aether shock cannon. This is why the designers of the Sakura chose the latter.

Is this Legacy Canon still a viable weapon? While Aether Canons would likely be far superior, I have a vested interest in looking at older Technology. Given it's essentially a black hole cannon, are there any restrictions for it? While it seems easy to stop, it could be catastrophic if it was shot at a planet.
