[Carthage] Montana Class Battleship WIP!!!!

This is one of my projects I've been brainstorming on. It's far from completion, but I would appreciate any feedback, ideas, or suggestions. As the name implies, the ship is inspired by the Montana Class, a United States design that was ordered but never built.
She's currently slated for 24 heavy aether based weapons turrets, various anti-fighter, and a large long range aether cannon. Any other weapon suggestions would be appreciated. I was also looking for a place to put fighter hanger(s).

I'd like to see a restrction placed on Carthage's production capabilities until the full program of it is approved, it has a planet for its production facilities, complete with SRPs, and meaningful limits to its speed of producing ships. That INCLUDES use of aether-based weapons and other such tech constraints.

In essence -- quit posting things in this thread until your actual project is approved and given all the appropriate attachments. You're arguably spamming the contrib thread with all of these submissions. Nevermind you already had two ships approved without it ...

And on a slightly related note ... is that Perry-class being used for scale? That would make your ship ... several kilometers long. Which is utterly insane, especially if they're supposed to be produced in any other number than 1.
 
First point:

America didn't technically exist in this universe, and while we do make occasional references to Real Life things - this is taking it too far. You can't name it after a US ship. That's silly.

Second:

Cut down on the aether, is suggests a lack of imagination.

Third:

Your design is somewhat better than earlier - Star Trek - designs.

Fourth,

I agree ENTIERLY with Doshii's point. You're moving vastly too fast and with too advanced technology for a nation who is economically and technologically far in inferior to Yamatai.

Slow the hell down!
 
So where am I supposed to post? And yes that is a perry for comparison. The Montana is most likely only going to be second in size to the Axis class mobile fortress. Mine you this is a Work in Progress and defiantly not representative of the finished target.
I'm currently researching Yamatain tech and will be going to Mishu next. It's going to take me a few months at least before I have a first draft, and then I have to wait for submission and such.
I originally intended to only have 16 Heavy Aether turrets, but with the area for the barrage missiles jutting out I added 8 more total. I'm wondering whether to include torpedoes, as most Battleships stopped using tubes at least going into WWII, and that's just more ammo to have to carry. The ships missile system is pretty much going to do the same job, except it will only fire port/starboard.
Like is said, this is going to take a lot of research just for competitive anti-yamatain weaponry and defenses, so I am open to suggestions.

The ships were never built. And it's a WORK IN PROGRESS. Perhaps I should find somewhere else to talk about starships and sci-fi, hmm?
When I'm told I can no longer post or participate in the online community here by someone in charge, I'll leave. I spend so much time and effort here because I enjoy it.
 
Actually, it's not better. Just as an immediate note (all I have time for) -- it's better to finish a submission first and then post it for critiques. Yes, this is a slow process -- that's deliberate, to ensure everything is ironed out before something is approved.

Putting things up when there's really no information on them hamstrings the community's ability to critique it.

I disagree with this entirely as Nepleslia does have technology that rivals and in some cases exceedes what Yamatai is capable of because of its friendship with the NDI.
 
Friendship? More like dependency. The moment the NDI decides to pull out from our universe and do more interesting stuff in theirs, the NSA is screwed.

Sure, they are building a couple of DD4s. But do you actually own the shipyards to produce them? Can you actually produce the parts needed to fix them? Once your stash of spare parts runs out, how are you going to maintain those ships otherwise of using patchwork NAM-made parts to try to keep them together?

*grins* Your point of view is painfully naive Uso. Much like your character's biased perception of the diplomat Soreta, you don't seem to be able to grasp the big picture. Despite the self-glorification, Nepleslia does not share the YSE's technology; they've been too busy kicking the crap out of each other to amount to much in the last decade.

This would also be largely untrue as the YSE did share tech with Nepleslia up until its independence. The largest drain on Nepleslian construction has actually come from retroactive posting in other threads on the state of Nepleslia. Please refrain from doing so in the future.

Also you do not seem to be able to grasp the difference between in character actions and OOC actions on the board.

*siiigh* Just when we thought it was over. So it goes.

When Nepleslia broke away from Yamatai, the IC knowledge went that Nepleslia lost out on the aetheric weapons technology that has made Yamatai so strong. It was a condition of their independence -- had that concession not been included, Yamatai would've been threatened. Retroactive or not, Uesu and Yui would not have been stupid enough to let aether weaponry, let alone more advanced tech, stay with the independent state.

Regardless, a company like Razeal's would not have access to it without illegally salvaging it. If he wants to take that chance, he should be allowed to.

Also, Derran's the one that knows about how deeply the NDI is involved with Nepleslia. He's the Avatar, so he needs to speak on that.

And technically, it's libel, not slander.
 
I'm willing to use something other than Aether, that's why I usually ask for suggestions. And Carthage base is capable of producing DD4's
I've already designed a Escort destroyer capable of atmospheric entry, the Spacelord class. And if you think SAoY surpasses Nepleslian tech so much, wait till you see Axis! =D
